From this morning, whenever there are embedded youtube vids in a thread each and every one of them play together as soon as that thread is opened!

Is it possible to fix this bug please? It makes it difficult to watch an individual clip as some of the longer threads are pages long so it's necessary to go through every post and press the pause button on each youtube pane until eventually, the noise stops. Then all you need to do is go through the whole lot again and restart the one you actually wanted to watch in the first place!
This is particularly irritating when using a phone (Android with default Dolphin browser) to view the forum as the sound of a dozen or so film clips playing at the same time means that the same number of tabs need to be closed.
I would imagine that using Safari to view the forum would be difficult too with this going on, since it doesn't divide forum threads into pages, meaning that potentially, there could be hundreds of clips going at the same time.

I've checked browser settings but it's not one of my machines that's doing this because the trouble is the same with all of the devices I use.

Maybe something is broken in the admin settings for the forum? If so, could someone please tell me how to do this on my own CR-48 owners' forum (in V-bulletin) as I'd love to annoy some of the members on there! :-D

But seriously though; it's freaking me out. :-/

I just went to the "Sightings" section to check a few threads and didn't have that problem.

Could it be a setting on your computer????

Nope, they're all doing it and that's three machines: One Dellbuntu laptop, one Google Mario Fish CR-48 netbook and one HOX mobile telephone with three different operating systems between the devices: Ubuntu 14.04, Mint Debian edition & a custom Android hybrid. I've tried a different browser on each one: Firefox (default), Safari, Dolphin and Chromium.

Before today, this didn't happen and everything worked faultlessly. I've also tried viewing cached forum pages and sure enough, they're working fine, by that I mean that youtube vids on those pages only open when you click their play button and then only one at a time.
I've also checked my youtube settings in case those sneaky b*****ds have made a change to their default settings - nothing there that shouldn't be. Checked my youtube downloader settings, same thing there; no faults and also checked machine playback settings in all cases but nothing has changed so if I had hair on my head, I'd be starting to pull it out about now.

And, since I wrote that, I've also tried Konqueror which does exactly the same so that's every browser in the stock repositories tried, all work in exactly the same way except that Safari is obviously even more annoying as [Safari] always opens forum threads in their entirety without dividing them into separate pages - not ordinarily an issue unless you hear hundreds of youtube clips playing at the same time! There are other, more specialised browsers that I could install from 3rd party sources to try but they - like Konqueror - are all based around the same software as Firefox so there'd be no point.
The other forum I visit that uses the same software as this one is working normally, with videos only starting when I'm clicking on the play icon.

I've cleared cookies on all of the devices, I've cleared the cache of my firewall router and I've checked settings for youtubeHD to make sure that it isn't set to start content instantly, but it wasn't and besides, I don't run that on the HOX, only on the CR-48 and the Dell.
:hmmm:

Well that sux

I don't know why or how this could be happening. I hate visiting sites that have autoplay, makes me INSANE
(or insane'r than I normally am :dunce:   )

Glad I'm not you right now, haha.
I opened the "Off Topic" section, saw Superduper's name as the most recent post on this subject, thought "Cool, we'll finally get an answer to what is causing this" and .....NOTHING

I've been called worse!

So there I was, all set to take my home server outside and kick it to death (to see whither that would help) but I had to go to eBay to deal with some stuff and while I was at it, decided to come to boomboxery and in doing so, I went to a thread with millions of youtube vids posted and at first, I assumed that I'd turned the sound off as I didn't hear anything but no, the tray icon told me that sound was on so I scrolled right through the thread (Safari, so just one very long page..) and the clips were all behaving as they should, not coming up unless I'd clicked on them. So all is once again working perfectly which is good, but I have no idea what was wrong to begin with which is annoying.

The only thing I've not checked in greater detail yet is whether there's been a server update that could have caused a temporary issue with embedded videos. My home server is headless so tomorrow I may connect a monitor to it and go hunting. On the other hand, I may not because life's far too short.

Indeed it is. Glad you are back to normal - at least with the YouTube video stuff. :-D

I think deleting all that porn must have helped too!
