So, as a follow-up to the 755 Steel Gray thread from a couple of weeks ago, I thought I'd update those of you who might be interested in thow things are developing... Happy to report that the exterior reconditioning is 95% done now that the euro headlights arrived from Germany. All that's left on the outside is to recondition (ie. prep and paint) the wiper mechanism and the roof window trim area...

The interior and suspension are next. And now that the car looks good, the incentive is in place!

Here's a before picture:

And comparing the two headlight types.. The European lights hold up much better over time, The US Spec ones are faded and cracked. They look better in the pic than they do in hand:

And this is how she looks now!

And, of course, the paint matching GE boombox!

Very nice, the headlights are definitely an upgrade.

Thanks, I agree... This is how the 190e looked to me from the onset, as I was living in Europe when the car was first released.

I always wondered why the US headlights were different, with the sealed beam headlight units.

Lookin' good, JT! If you bring it to the meet, I'd love to take it for a spin. :-)

Great car, i love it.
A friend of me had the same.
Thousands around here.
But most are in very used condition. :-/
To see such mint one is very rare.

The right lights are the us version? :-O
Sorry, such kind of ugly...
Never seen before.
But it seems to be typical for us/imported cars to have such square lights. :hmmm:

You did the right thing to change them. :agree:
