I have to say, one of the main reason I don't buy from eBay is I hate the stress of being sniped at the end :evilmad: :ebay:

It seriously pisses me off :annoyed: and since I don't have "The Big Bucks" to go BIG on my bids, I just don't even bother.

I have been lucky enough to have made some good deals with members and I'm happy for what I've got,

Now, with that said, should I ever win the lottery, I'm goin' Full On "CrazyManForU" and buying EVERYTHING!

Until then, I'll just be chillin' over here.... :sin:

About 1/3 of my collection has come from ebay or craigslist. Ebay can be a crap shoot with all the rip off artists out there. I have been lucky and only received 1 damaged boombox from ebay and the sender gave me a full refund and let me keep the boombox. The rest of my collection I have gotten from members here and it is definitely a better way to go. Members know how to pack and the descriptions are generally better, and there is a higher level of trust. Lately I have been staying away from ebay because scammers are running rampant!! I work too hard to have my money stolen so I stay away.

10% - shipping damage
20% - Obvious and blatant very inaccurate description, pictures taken in a way that hides real damage or issues.
60% - Issues not described

25% - I was completely satisfied with purchase

don --your math seems to be off  :dunce: :-) :-)

but--its cool  we get your point :surf:

It wasn't meant to add up to 100% you math wiz because some of the boxes I received fit more than one of the categories.

I've actually received a few boxes that had issues not described but I was still fully satisfied because I got them very cheap. I've also received a few boxes that were damaged in shipping but even beyond the shipping damage they had issues that were not described or even obviously hidden in the auction.

I've been very lucky that none of my eBay boxes have shown up broken even with horrible packing! One didn't have any packing material at all, it was just stuck it the box sideways!
I've had a couple that were not as described, but I always assume the radio's not in as good of condition as described, so I'm not so disappointed.

For the most part any damaged box I've received has always been when UPS delivers...For as many Boomboxes I've had shipped with USPS I've thankfully never had any damages!!!

80% of my boomboxes were bought from Ebay. I just got lucky with the way it was all packed. I always gave special instruction on how to pack it soon after I make the payment. After that, I will send couple more mails with additional instructions on how to pack it. Big boxes like C100, RX5350, and even 90Lbs tube radios all arrived in good shape. Several Philips radios from Netherland arrived after a month in like new condition with no damages. Most of these items were instructed to pack tight in styrofoam pads, bubble pack and then double box in styrofoam peanuts. Tube radios sellers were instructed to remove the dial glass and pack it separately. This way when the chassis shifts it won't break the hard to find dial glasses.

I trust USPS a lot. My M90 was delivered by UPS in excellent condition. The seller made good effort in packing.

Boxes I have won/bought from German eBay, all have been packed fine. AFAIK I haven't encounter any shipping damages yet. Boxes have been nice and few times even better than the description would suggest. The GF-575 though, was kinda beater and the dough for it was a bit too much, it has bad issues with the decks that were not so well described. I have only one box bought outside eBay, thats the GF-700.
