How about people to pay thousands, or even hundreds of thousands for an old postage stamp? Or folks who pay scores or hundreds of dollars for palm sized bean filled teddy bears?

Those people are just nutz, unlike us sane Boombox collectors   :dunce:

There is a fine line between a fun hobby where people spend a good amount of cash on stuff and a rich-sport in which Average Joe can't play with the big ones anymore.
I am afraid boombox collecting will slide off in that direction - and to be honest, I would not like to start my collection today because I would constantly be discouraged.
Many boomboxes are worth a lot of money (to us) but THIS auction just lacks every right to be called "a fair sale" :nonono:

IMO - if someone calls that a justified amount, they are not right in this hobby.

Huh? That's totally fair, someone wanted that real bad and paid big time. You can't tell someone not to bid as much as they want to. People will pay what they want to pay, either fork out big money on ebay or wait until they can source what they want by another means. There's nothing unfair about that. So long as people express their interest in the right places good people will help em out. In my experience anyway.
