M71 #4 for me has just landed! Craigslist score from states away. A car buddy of mine picked it up because the seller wouldn't ship it. It was listed as a M70 but I knew right away it was a M71. From the original owner and he is pretty sure he has the original box for it in storage he will try to find some day.

Overall it is dirty, some scuffs, broken antenna shaft, and a little piece of the front case just below the top panel is broke out. Hopefully that piece is inside the radio, no biggie if it isn't because that would be an easy repair.

Enjoy!!!

Everything works and even the sliders are problem free. The tape might still need new belts but everything is turning. The sound is top notch, no issues.

^ true!

If I had the space I probably would.

I do have another M71 here that I had to paint and added the white/amber superduper LED kit to, but I wanted this one hoping the original finish was good and sell my other one. Atleast that's the plan for now.

Looks like a good score you've landed, blu_fuz and, from where I'm looking from, it looks to be a pretty good box so I wish you well with the resto and hope you have no nasty surprises!

I'll know more after I make some plastic repairs and get everything cleaned and assembled.

I dove into it a little tonight to get the ball rolling. A few more broken bits than I expected but nothing major. I have a parts M70 front case I can cut the bits from that were broke on the M71.

Joel still has the biggest JVC collection that I know of, but I at least share my goodies with the world. His are unavailable to the public  :-P

I have had horrible luck with M71's, they are always the worst beat down pile of crap compared to the M70's I have found. Unreal that they get treated so bad!

I worked on the plastic repairs tonight. I was able to make the missing section and put the handful of pieces back into place.

Thanks. It would have been nice to just unpack this one and not worry about repairs again :-/

Figures I have no M71 paint here for touching up the plastic repairs :-/, boooo. Maybe I can find a nail polish color close enough. The rear case has some strange chemical drip marks along the top and back.

Washed it up in the tub. Painted the grills.
