Did I hear right, some of you like TV boxes?

Not sure if anyone is interested in this but sharing just in case anyone wants to talk about it!

Emerson XLC-555 all-in-one with 5" TV. Maybe 1986. Found at my local thrift store down the street for $10. (no tax!)

It has a Phono input, tape, AM/FM and VHF/UHF analog television receiver. AC/DC/10x'D' cell. 28 Watts at 15V!

The tape player works ok as is, but when in tape mode there is only motorboating out of the right channel. Both sides work fine in the all other modes. So it comes with a fun repair for when I'm bored!

Seen here tuned into CKCO-TV Kitchener, Ontario over an antenna. Some of you may realize I'm being a bit sneaky here as there hasn't been analog tv on the airwaves in Canada since 2011.

Very nice! If not mistaken the Emerson brand was sold through Canadian Tire among other retailers.

BTW CHCH TV Hamilton is still free digital channel some great classics on it. Enjoy the box! I have a JVC EN3090 TV Boombox and I love it!

I always thought they were very neat. I have a more modern radio with a DVD player built in but it's not as cool as your Emerson and it's LCD versus CRT.

I have to admit, there is something attractive about old CRTs. There's a member somewhere that also has a very neat looking boombox radio with a black and white tube that's also very cool. I think it was a Panasonic TR-1200X
