Hi,I was working on a Pioneer SK-51 today,the tape deck wasn't working
so I opened her up and got the deck apart and the belt was off track.
So after oiling, Lubing, and cleaning the belts & shafts & what not I got
It going but it was not easy getting the belt on just right as You literally
had to take the spindle-flywheel out to get at the belt good.
Springs, parts,on the floor, not fun but there was success!
The belt is pretty worn but after some fine tuning tomorrow I
should have it really running good.
Correct tape speed, running fine but belt gets on the bottom part
of the motorbase it's pretty worn.
The real fun part was when the string came off the tuner somehow!
Man,that wasn't fun literally laid down next to the Boombox and used
Photographic memory for thiis!!
It was literally all off and I re strung it perfectly! Stations all lined up
perfect!
I don't know how that happened but I have worked on my 71 & 95
and I remembered!
I've never re-strung a Boombox before either!
I'm pretty happy now but these Pioneer decks will try your patience
but they work great when they're fixed!
Photos of this beast when it's all going, just need the 2 screws that
hold the handle together-end screws, look like hex or Allen.
Have a good one!
