Definitely the best Crown box I've heard, and one of the best sounding boxes, period, as far as I'm concerned.

The sound is much richer. The 850 is more like a RISING 2020 with a bit more bass.
The 970 is richer and deeper, more like a Toshiba S90 say. There's something about the detail
and range of a 970 that is really special.
