Crown 970 - a lucky snatch

Well, after getting my 970 about half a year ago, I was never quite satisfied with it.
The condition was okay to me - absolutely suitable for the shelf...but the tape door did not stay shut and everything was very scratchy. I never opened it up because i figured it would be too difficult.
I believe it could be restored but i just never got around doing it.
Anyway, when I was on the phone with another collector recently, I was browsing eBay.com and saw a Crown 970 - damn, I almost dropped the phone!
I clicked on the listing and remained speechless when it had a BIN of 200$ :-O .
WIthout reading the description, I clicked it!
After about two weeks, I picked the box up at customs office today. And what can I say?
I am having a great day :angelic:
Cosmetically, it really is a true 9.5/10! The only thing that is not working is the tapedeck but the motor is clearly there so I believe it should be an easy fix for someone who knows what they are doing. All buttons feel smooth too.

Well, the bottom one is up for grabs. It's missing the battery cover but other than that, it is complete.
If you're interested, please send me a PM...not sure if I want to trade or sell it yet. Only one thing is sure - I don't need both of them  .

==================

what does not work well on the first 970 ?
The tape is not working and I cannot hear the motor. The tape door does not stay shut and the controls are really scratchy.
Other than that, it is completely working (line in and tuner, lights, etc.)

How do these sound compared to the 850?
The 970 absolutely sounds better than the 850!
Anyway, I think it probably ties with the 980...but I yet have to hear them side by side.

Here's a shot with the M90. I just wish Crown would have built the 970 a little bigger...it would be the ultimate boombox then.

Is this not the same sort of tactic you called AZA out for?

Nope. It's been sold to a well respected member for a price both agreed on immediately.
The main difference is that I was clearly planning on letting it go and not only considering that. Anyhow, I do not see a reason why I would have to defend myself here.

Consider this

You were unsure if you wanted to sell or swap, AZA was unsure if he wanted to sell. Different but essentially the same as you would sell for the right offer, as would he, If the right offer was not received you would have offered it for trade where AZA would have kept it. Sellers choice and within the sellers rights.

As for not having to defend yourself, why does any other member have to when you decide that you don't agree with their methods?
