Consequences of blasting in the street

So it finally happened, I was out blasting my custom purple Sharp GF-9000 with Lasonic speakers at 1.30-ish last night, and a police car drove by and told me to turn it down, I was waking up all the people sleeping . They liked it though, I asked if I should turn it off, they said: "No, it's a cool radio, just turn it down a bit".
First time I got in "legal trouble" with the authorities . How common is this in other countries ? I'd imagine some places they wouldn't mind and others they would be very strict..
Also met a guy today who lives in the area and told me I did actually wake him up ...

Oh how we love a good dichotomy! Can you not play your tunes on the beach or on top of a multi storey or somewhere else less likely to land you in A&E?

Classic! It's funny how most people including policemen react positively to oldschool boomboxes.
I live next door to a police station and the night shift always leaves the windows open and they already look out the window when I walk by with a boombox . They once threatened to take away the 777 of a befirended collector though...anyhow - a job well done, Elias!

It's cool that you have the balls to blast a vintage boombox in the street these days , but I've got to admit 1:30 in the morning is a strange time to be wandering around blasting your box, don't you think?

Middle of the day on your day off then yes, but waking everyone up at that time! What was you thinking?!

I wonder how many people woke up and were like "Uh, urrgghh, what's that noise, my god is it 1984 again??" - "You're having a dream, just go back to sleep dear..."

Haha ok guys I forgot to mention I was on my way home from a party and a bit intoxicated. I do not usually go around waking people up just to be a rebel .
Blasting is done at daytime on my uni usually, spreading the word of boomboxes and Hip Hop.
And yes Justcruising, it sounds much better. A dramatic increasing in bass-capability and overall richness. Before it sounded a bit flat and closed, now it sounds very nice at medium levels. It still doesn't extremely loud, so for big parties it's not my first choice.

Trust me! There are lots of poeple out there have no clue about there priceless collections!
