Hello everyone, I finally had some time to take apart and clean one of the new additions to my collection. The TECHNISONIC CONION TC 555. I may not be the most tech savvy guy round here, but man I sure can clean and detail the shiat out of a boombox!! I purchased this baby in late December, and it's fully functional in every way
It doesn't have the aux line in inputs, but good ol gsbadbmr schooled me on how to play my ipod or phone through the mic input, and it sounds pretty dam nice.
I disassembled the front from the back, and there was only one small connection to unplug in order to separate the 2 pieces so it's a great box to work on. If I can do it, anyone can. Woofers and tweeters were removed and cleaned, all sliders were scratchy but deoxit handled that problem with ease. The insides were completely wiped down or washed and all dust was blown out with my compressor. I cleaned the heads on both cassette decks, and cleaned 30 year old dust from every little groove and crevice on the outside. At first glance it didn't look too dusty, but I was surprised how dirty this was inside once I broke it down. Anyways here's some pics for all to see of the process from beginning to end, I think this one is ready for Venice Beach in March! Cheers!
