Conion C100 power button problem

I need some help with a strange issue.

Power always on regardless of button position. Pressing a button usually closes a circuit but here the circuit is always closed. Button moves perfectly and clicks nicely at each end of the motion. LED beside it is always-on but I'm not sure if it ever goes off - this is my only Conion.

Is it possible the switch contact broke off and is stuck closing the loop?
Or is the switch only for batteries - I've just tested on AC power so far.

Thx

Sounds like you hit it with the contact being stuck or broke so that it remains in the closed position regardless of switch position. :hmmm:

Also make sure deck is not stuck in play position. Because a deck stuck in play mode will keep machine powered on.

This is exactly the problem. My first C100 was the same way.

Any luck? Mine is stuck in play, and it was mentioned to me the only way to get the tape unstuck was to open the radio up. I migt try this over the weekend.
