bought this and an eq....i have discovered the head unit doesn't have an amp so how do i connect it up????

Those pre amp only models are high end , you need to connect to an amp that has line in .

If you had the old alpine amps with the din inputs that would work the best.

No because if there are no line in on the eq and no speaker channel outputs on the alpine to connect to the high inputs of the eq.

my eq has 2 phono inputs on the back for left and right

Then use those for your line in.

I know I wish I had it lol, my old trusty rusty Kenwood serves me well though.
I have 2 alpines even older than that but they both need work.

yea it's strange, some of these alpines don't cost much but this one lol, i only want it for dolby c lol and it matches the eq, wanted the pair for years lad

Those are cool this modern **** is useless , I mean the new stuff sounds OK but the glory days are over . back when those were made car stereos were interesting and high quality , now its an empty box with microchip for guts.

That's why my old alpines don't get fixed there's just too many parts in the way its like they barely had room left to put the lids on lol.

Hey Floyd i get it now my alpine is a pre amp correct??? i could connect it to my Technics power amp i think as that has a pre amp too...now that;s effing barmy lol...if it didn't cost much to send you're alpines lad, id get my engineer to do em for you, no charge

Yes pre amp only and it most likely has a strong line out voltage for a clean noise free signal

Took the alpine to bits Floyd, one of the radio boards has come out lad, an easy fix for my engineer...

anyway my point is there is nothing much in these buddy unless it's because mine has no amps, a rebelt should be quite easy on yours my man

The problem with mine is one has no sound and both don't light up but they have power because the soft eject works .

The old ass alpines I have got all kinds of fuked up wires and crap so you can't tell what's what.

ahh same as mine lad so many wires and one wonders why with no amps, i wouldn't know where to start lol
