I have seen a few different photos floating around. Is this what it looks like?

It is my understanding that they made two types. The one shown in the picture there was for the Helix version (if I am not mistaken). The other models (Conion / Clairtone) only had 1 hole drilled in the front housing for a spring on the right lower post (as facing the box head on). I believe Caution has a picture floating around on here of what the other style factory spring looks like.

I made my own and it worked quite well. It's a watered down version of the spring in the picture above. It's been months since I made the spring and it's working like brand new.

If you have a Tractor Supply they sell these spring kits which is what I purchased. There are many sizes and strength springs in there. It takes a fairly stiff spring to work properly.

The other one goes on the right hinge. The original one is on the right side in the first pic, I made the left one

Forgot to mention - you can use these but you'll have to trim/bend the ends
You'll need "0.8 x 6 x 2 x 40mm 130°"

I absolutely love learning this stuff. Eric we need to be neighbors..lol.

Looks like I didn't do things the way the factory did as I had to guess. I should be fortunate it works :-)

That would be awesome! Well for us anyway, those in our lives, maybe not so much
I tried making the same spring you did, but it's a huge PITA to install vs. the side spring.

Wow thanks! I just ordered the spring you mentioned. It comes in a 5pk which is great in case I don't get the bends absolutely correct on the first try.

A very special thanks goes to @caution for providing the needed information to fabricate Tape 1s Door torsion spring. I photo documented the process. It opens like a champ now.
