I got this great PH490 from Autobot84 a few months ago and haven't used it much,I've been listening to my Sansui CP7 a lot. So i figured I would give it a break and bust out the Fisher........

Thanks Jimmy!
Yes I had a Matchbox Superkings crane when I was kid,I always liked it too.
My original is long gone but I have the minty one on display. The Muir Hill tractor and trailer above it is one I always wanted when I was a kid too,but never could find one.

Interesting thread. Its gone from boxes to cranes to tractors to ships to musle cars and back to boxes

Great box Skip, it looks the cleanest 490 on here

Tractors? Must have missed that bit, I do love a good tractor so here's one I used to have a stake in, seen at a local show a couple of years ago:

Loving that Fisher by the way, I'd enjoy pitting one of these against a Technics SAC05L.

I did a comparison of My 492 & 480 against My Technics SA-C05. I think the 492 edged out the Technics. the 480 was about even on clarity. 536251_4179711782552_930717981_n.jpg. Congratulations Skippy. These big Fishers are Powerhouses!

Oh, so the Fisher will take the SAC05 outside, kick it blue & black, eat its tea, steal its beer and then run off leaving the smaller Technics for dead. Still, at least the 05 has wireless speakers. IN YER FACE, Fisher.

(Just watch, someone will now post to tell me that the Fisher has wireless speakers too, I dunno, does it? Like it matters once the beatings have been handed down ;-) .....)

Yeah, I've owned mine since it was new in 1982 and was given to me as an 18th birthday present from the parents, The 05L has been amazingly unreliable but always worth fixing when something else breaks 'cos it sounds so good. Its tape transport is buried so deeply within the thing that removing it for its next clutch repair used to take around two hours. I can now do the entire job in under 40 minutes as the screws see me coming and remove themselves!
National Panasonic's similar looking boxes are so neatly built that it's hard to believe that the same company made them both, but hey, I was 18 and Technics was the cool name to carry around.
