Ok, if no pictures appear with this thread, they will be coming... I'm just generally poor at uploading pics.
Spotted in Amsterdam - Sanyo MX720 decorating a skate shop window. I'm not a fan of the skateboard coming into contact with the box. The guys running the store would not part with it.

That's too bad. That would've been a great catch. I like that model.

My interest in this sexy little Fisher with detachable microcassette walkman promptly inspired the owner to declare that is was 'for his listening and not for sale'.

I purchased these two, the Sanyo mini and the Blaupunkt so as to put them back into boombox circulation. At this point I had plenty of time in Berlin ahead of me so I didnt feel the pinch.

Yes I know, I had seen pictures of the 720 before but never in the flesh.., and until then had the wrong idea - it really is nice and now I might like to add one to my sanyo family..

Mono box. I have forgotten the name. The other I think was a Sharp.

Some cool professional-looking radio sets. The one with the lofty speakers and cassette player was one of 10 owned by the stallholder. I'm guessing he has boomboxes too. It was covered by a kid's RUN-DMC shirt.

An ugly piece of crap. Apparently some people like these so I took the snap.

...and here's the sad part. I was leaving Berlin the very next day and had already my hands full... The guy was asking €35 for each box you see here... I got him down to €20 but then realised there was no way I could carry them with me to Leipzig, so sadly I said good-bye to them. They are in the Mauerpark flea market for anyone interested. Please go get them! I want to see them in collector's hands!

I would not know what to do if I saw all those good boomboxes in one trip. :-O :w00t:

 cool pics, hope you had a great trip.

Blaupunkt, these really were the stereos to have in your car in the UK back in the day, never ever seen a Blaupunket box :surf:

Great to see the trip's kicking arse, Warren!
Some great radios in there, looking forward to seeing what else you come across.

On a side note, it might be worth asking a family member/close friend over there if they can be a waypoint for the radios you find.
Then you can send them back to them and then send them back to .au from there. Won't be cheap, but hey, I'm sure you'll find some
that you can't bear to live without.

Rock On.

:( just not possible with my three constraints involving boomboxes whilst traveling; time, budget, and travel companion ;)

If I was on my own I would buy them all, with exception of the Siemens mono and the red goo-ball ;)

almost forgot - boxes spotted way back when in Paris. The 777 costed 1500 euro. With a crack in the case.
The other 2 are Sharp also but the model # I have forgotten... both also very expensive!

The HiFi setups are rare and beautiful and were spotted in Vienna. They were gone the very next day.

Barcelona:

Found this mint Philips today. Seller would like €70 for it, I´m quite sure he would come down as it was his initial ask and every seller of *anything* in Barcelona I´ve so far met has been willing to make financial compromise of some sort.
If anyone wants it PM me, I´ll pick it up and mail it to you at cost. It has a line in!
