Bought two Lasonic 920’s and still haven’t got a fully working one!

I bought one a couple of years back but it was toast which was very disappointing as I love the look of these. So when I saw one that was cheap because it had a busted back I jumped on it. I’m in the UK and shipping and tax from the States makes these not as cheap as I’d like though!

So I’ve combined the best bits of both and it looks great, and sounds frickin awesome on radio and line in. All controls works spot on.

But there’s no life from the deck. Checked and there was no voltage to the motor when it should’ve been running. It had obviously been dropped hence the damage to the back (replaced with my spare). So I’ll have to check for an iffy connection somewhere.

In the meantime here it is. The front is in fab nick as are the sides...there is zero discolouration. Contrasted with the back from the old machine which is discoloured. It’s a lovely thing. Just need to sort the damned deck :-)

I would check the leaf switches on the deck .
I looked at the obvious one at the top of the back and that looked fine. Need to test it properly though

You know what sucks is mine took a bad fall as well, and it hit hard. These are a tough ass box lol.

Don't suppose you would have a working band selector switch in the other box ?. Mine is shot it just spins around , even with the ****ed up band selector switch it worked great till it took a dive.

Can’t honestly remember. I’ll be parting it out and there’s a few dibs on bits already but I’ll check it out. If it works it’s yours :-)

Wow that would be awesome mate! I’ll check first to see if I can locate the fault. If it’s in the deck itself I’d really appreciate this one. I’ll get back to by pm once I’ve had another go at it. Cheers!!

If you dropped it, you might have cracked a trace if you have no power whatsoever
I didn’t drop it, it was sold with a busted back because the seller dropped it, that’s why it was cheap. But yeh could just need a bit of soldering. Gonna dive in again now :-)

Took the main board out and found a hairline crack across a corner where it was screwed to a post. Tested for continuity and found 7 traces broken. Jumpered each one and hey presto it only frickin works. Even the light works now though the bulb was blown so I replaced it with a blue led. So it’s now 100% working! Well chuffed!

Deck sounds sweet, lovely and clear, and right speed. Love it

Anytime Si! Looks so cool with the blue led. The 920 is such a pleasing boombox to hear it and see it. Legendary

Yeh I’m liking the blue. Not too bright and glaring either, just nicely subtle.

I hate to cut in but if nobody needs that deck I could really use it in mine , it took a bad fall and the cassette tray broke. All I really need is the cassette holder part of the cassette door , the part that swings out when you press eject.

Damn I miss that part, awesome job. Rock on.

People don't realize the lasonic TRC 920 will just wipe the f****** floor with 95% of the mid-size boxes.

TOTALLY agree.

The OG bulb was anemic at best, but to my knowledge the only radio with a switch that is both momentary and ON (Reli, can you help me out here?)
