This week's find - a Silver ST3300L. Very cute. Didn't see one on here, so I thought why not? Wow and flutter very respectable hovering around 0.11% DIN. Does anyone else have one and can tell me what the RIS switch is on the top panel? It does mono/stereo but not sure what it stands for.

The tape keys are er interesting - FF rewinds and RW fast forwards! There's a clue as the PLAY arrow points backwards...

RIS switch is for reducing whistling when recording from MW/LW, it never really got used on any boomers that I can recall however it did actually sort of work!!

The deck is perfectly normal on this just upside down as many were, you have to re-imagine it's orientation as opposite what a front loader with the keys beneath the tape door would look & work like!

Not a fan of the 'Keyboard' units myself - Sharp, Casio & others had a go at this too but all pretty much abandoned the idea before it went any further................

I quite like your Silver I must admit!!

Yeah, I realised my naivety about the key orientation as soon as I posted only had the bug for 8 weeks and never seen this layout before...confused me it did! These keyboard decks really capture a moment in time, even though it was a passing phase for the makers. This Silver may look a bit of a novelty, but I'm quite impressed with the quality of components like the pots, metal cassette chassis, tape head performance. All working perfectly after 35 years, prob original belts too. Just the auto-stop given up the ghost.
