Eventually things came to a head... In 2014 (or was it earlier? I don't think so but who knows?) I wrote on the other forum that I had in mind a boombox exhibition, possibly the first ever in Italy. However I was after a certain number of models I would have loved to show, surely members would help me find them?

In time, people like Docs, brutus442, Dits, Stereomad, even former decentmanforyou (yes! him!) helped me find what I was looking for, and yet the exhibition was continuously postponed. Then in 2015-16, on the occasion of the centennial of the radio, I organized a course at the University in collaboration with a friend of mine who is an architect. What our students produced is now going to be part of an exhibition in Catania, advertised as follows:

bb_the_city.png

The poster says "an exhibition and four events" because the exhibition (radios, photos, pictures, an installation and a certain number of videos produced by students and a painter) will last three weeks during which three performances and a round table will take place. Now guess who is reluctantly going to perform on May 26?

Come on, Italian is not too difficult... Yes guys, you got it right: it's our rustproof, unfading, enthusiastic friends and honorable members of the forum Docs and Lasonic TRC 920 plus wifeys. Meanwhile, we'll spend three days together in sunny Sicily & we will report -- irregularly, say in between one beer and another -- from the Boombox Bar. Stay tuned!

Oh, and we have more posters. Our graphic designer got creative... Enjoy!

Looks great! Those exhibitions are always a lot of fun. Just make sure your boxes are protected well. ;)

Just to be on the safe side...please check the copyright of the images you used... This can backfire really quickly and something as cool as this exhibition should not be overshadowed by stuff like that!

Wooow. Chris you look so serious in the picture! Woow for the instalations too.most of them sanyos. ☺️ The pics with the close ups of the machines are very nice too. They remind me of Sal's Sunday quiz pics. The cake seems delicious!

Great work Samovar ! Congrats to you ,the students and everyone else that helped for this exhibition. Deech had told me about it sometime ago , so good to see that finally it became a real event.
Definitely more pictures needed and a thorough description of the exhibition ... the Samovar way !

On the walk out of the event, I unleashed the beast! I have learned that if you want MAXIMUM EFFECT you follow these simple rules...

#1 Big Arse Blaster
#2 Full Volume
#3 Micheal Jackson Beat It

I stepped out the front doors of the exhibition building and let it all hang out into a huge stone plaza. The 975 could be heard reverberating off walls 100 yards away.....and we walked! The city streets of Catania, Sicily swayed with the Lasonic!

with my West Coast shirt and my Blu_Fuz strap!

It's hard to relay or express the BOOMBOX AND THE CITY experience here on the forum. I know oh to well how hard it is to put together a meet, but this was on a whole other level. Years of planning and organization went into this. Amazing art installations, video and audio productions, original art work....it was far more than a few boomboxes and a blaster cake. No small detail was over looked and it will stand along as a completely unique and original expression of the effects of the BOOMBOX.

I want to thank our very own Samovar - Salvatore for making this trip so special for Dave, Charlotte, my wife Ellen and me. He arranged seaside accommodations all within walking distance to restaurants and bars and his house and the experience was once in a life time.

But this story does not end here. I will start another tread regarding other treats that we will be bringing to the community and your not going to want to miss any of it!

Stunning, the exihibit really was astonishing and a massive effort by Sal and his team. You guys seemed to have a blast, Chris, good to see you rocking that box as it should be, on the streets.
