what is the "off duty" magazine?

Look at the pics, there is a magazine cover that says OFF DUTY, ANNUAL '80. That was a magazine for soldiers "off duty." and was a freebie give-away. I remember it from living in Germany during the late 70's & early to mid 80's. They compiled lots of info on stereo equipment and had lots of advertisements for gear in them as well.

I saw that, figured it was a military magazine, my buddy from work is over and said he hasn't heard those words in a long time, he served in the Army & navy, only person I know who got out of one branch than reenlisted in another

I remember Off Duty as well. Those were great and had so much stuff in them. What was really cool was the stuff you 'could not get' stateside! Spent at total of seven years of my life in Europe. I miss Europe.... :-D

And Tony...about that 880 of yours...why would anyone want THAT?!?!? :lol: :-P

Check out Lupe fiasco's album cover he's holding what looks like a Panasonic 5085! I was streaming some audio here at work and the artist info and cover art popped up and wouldn't you know it. :w00t:
I've had this CD for some time now, and just now realized that he's holding a boombox. Great album BTW.

got another playboy guide coming next week, the issue I just received had a lot on computers and video games ( radio shack computer for only $399!!) in it not so much audio related, hopefully the 81 issue coming will have some more good pics to scan, stay tuned...

Tony, don't you have a copy of the Playboy Audio Review book or something like that where they were comparing the component boomboxes from Denon, Sansui, etc.? :-)
