I have renewed interest in this box. Does anyone know, when it was made? Why, i seem to be the only person to have owned a champagne colour one. Most, i have seen, are black. Someone i spoke to, that worked at toshiba, in the early 80`s, had no recollection of this model at all, though, he could remeember the rt-s931/2, and, he was very surprised, that some are still around.

All those Bomebat 40 looks like staying in some parallel world and waiting to be discovered. Im sure a lot are staying in some garages and so on. Last one was on something like spanish ebay for bin 160 euro a month and few days ago . Your ex silver BB40 looks rare like Peter's silver RC 550 and really no info and second boomers to tell the story. Most interesting is that i cant believe that they produced just lets say 100 or even 1000. Does not make sense. Where are all those boomers now? And why for example all BB40 are poppin up mostly in spanish speaking countries (most common in south america). Thats wired for me. It will be really interesting to find some info on that.
And if i find a silver one one day (have kind of luck with Toshiba boomers - 3 WX-1s and one SX-1000 found for 2 months  ) i will trade her right away for good black one in the very next second.Thats just me :-P

Both, black one`s i see. The champagne one, intrigues me. There must be someone, that worked for toshiba, while this box was being made, to tell the story?

Thanks, but, i think, radiohier takes that crown, as, he now has both black and silver. Has anyone here seen it, since he took ownership of it?

I have not seen him post a picture of it. It might be hidden away in some old bunker. :-) I think most of us here thought that you still had the champagne colored BomBeat 40.

You should have seen his face, when i told him, i was keeping it. He said "i have come all the way from germany, especially for it" If i knew then, what i know now, it would have stayed on my shelf :annoyed: .

IMHO a good BB40 is probably really worth 500-600 euros.
All the hype is not really helping it and most of us are just guessing it sounds so great.
It might sound good but there is no way that it is worth twice as much as an M90  .
We will soon see more of them pop up as the word about them being demanded spreads and people search their basements and attics.

That`s fair enough, but, it`s desirability, and, rarity, have pushed the price up. Having owned one, i know, how good they sound, though, difference in build quality, is like comparing a rolls royce (m90), to a ford escort (bb40).. The guy i got mine from, on ebay, had it kicking round the house, for 7 years. It was his wife, who told him to sell it, as, she was fed up of falling over it. His kids, had been using it as a football, and, writing pad. Record key, was snapped off, one allan bolt was removed, dust, was half way up the speaker front. I think also, there will be a few of these, lurking in attics, cellars, garages, etc. It would be nice to see a champagne one turn up. The cassette door bolts from tpr968, 990, fit perfectly.

:agree: It was kinda the same with the M90 - 99% of the people who list one nowadays know what it is worth. The BB40 is a newly discovered grail whose greatness' word has not spread among Average Joe yet. And I say YET because as stated above I would bet hard cash on the fact that more and more of them will turn up soon.
I recommend anyone who wants one to be patient and wait until the 1000+ prices are past.

well it appears that recent auctions of the Bombeat 40 have proven this wrong.

IMHO=In My Humbe Opinion.

We have all seen boxes go for crazy money which was much more than what they were actually worth.
I would call anyone crazy who spends over 1000€ on a BB40 but after all that is what they are willing to pay so that's cool.
That hype will not last long so if you have a BB40 to sell, do it now to maximize your winnings.

We all have our price, some high some low and some inbetween.
I like the bb40 like anyone else but I agree with Max, at the ebay prices, not a cattin hells chance, simply is too much.

I should confess - was ready to hit my maximum around 1500 euro for one in good condition. But now after some time and consideration i agree with Max. Damn i can have a few not known and damn cool boomers for lot less cash. For example - I love my Palladium 550 in black and the price was funny because all think it is POS  . It is damn good boomer for funny cash because dont have the stupid grail status. But like we all know - some people will pay lot, some not. Actually im happy now that i didnt spent this crazy amount of cash for one bb40. I doubt it would make me happy when i know the crazy price and the easy of getting her. Will wait for catch in the wild.
Nobody seen like noticed that 90% of all bb40 looks like poppin up in South America? Thats what looks interesting for me. Is there any chance that they were sold just there? It will be good all members having one and know some info about that to tell the story. We all will find some at some point. Dont worry dudes. Enjoy what we have. And wait like a good boomerhunter for the right shoot :-D .

My guess is that the BomBeat 40 came out a very short time after the S90, basically because they both share the same back case layout/mold... 1981-'82 perhaps...

It still amazes me that the BomBeat 40 was NOT sold IN Japan... On the other hand, the S90 was NOT sold OUTSIDE Japan... Strange!!

Hey mono. Yeah, same here. I sent a pic of mine to turbosonic. He had never seen one before. It is, based on the s90. I bet, radiohier, has mine in a vault, or, a glass case? I would love to hear, what he has done with it.
