This is an old Team Cycle Curb Cruiser 16" (rare) wheel MBX style scooter. My co-worker found it in the trash and I had to have it! We made a deal and it's all mine. Blasted it all down and put a white base coat on it. I wanted to paint it GT Dayglo Orange but I just couldn't find a good formula to go that route. We ended up painting the frame, fork, and neck clamp Competition Orange with gold flake. The handle bars are white, wheels will stay white, and the foot board is white. It will have black tires, white powder coated brake components.

It was just a fun project to try and I will ride around on it at the different camp grounds we go to during the year. Should be nice when I get it all together.

Woah. I haven't seen one of these in years! :w00t:
I had an orange scooter I'd take down one of the big hills in my neighborhood. I swear, I was 10 and I was going 40.
No helmet. Never dumped. Stupid kid.
I found that when the rear brake wore down to nothing, my sneaker worked just fine by wedging it between the deck and the back tire.

Looking pretty cool. Can't wait to see it complete. :-)

It looks like there will be a lot of work to complete that project
The frame looks very good
Good luck with the resto :-)

I'm powdercoating the brake components right now and soaking the wheels in bleach:

Well I'm not sure how good the bleach will whiten the wheels now....... apparently whatever 'finish' was on the putter I was holding the wheels down with can't handle the bleach. The finish bubbled and blistered and made all of the bleach cloudy and black, damn. If the bleaching doesn't work then I will media blast them and see how nice they are. Worst case I could always paint them white too. I might pickup the frame late tomorrow.

This should like great once its all together.

Interested to see how that wheel bleaching works out, ive got some mags that need refurb. Why do people use black blocks on white mags :sadno:

I need to find something like this....Smaller than a bike, takes up less room, easy to ride while drunk! The positives go on and on!
Then I also need one if it is easy to ride while drunk. :w00t:

Bleaching was not a good idea because now you need to clean it real well before painting. Now we have to wash off the strong alkali treatment completely with lots of water. Any chemical impurities on the substrate surface will affect adhesion and the final overall quality of the paint.

Media blasting would have been much better, but never too late for it.

I'm not painting the wheels, that's why I bleached them silly! I did ponder media blasting and painting the wheels but I knew the paint would chip off eventually and look like crud.

I did get a little time today and put most of it together and took it for a quick scoot!

Chris, you gotta get one man, these are a blast!

Hahahaha, too big for a scooter?! Yes!

A 16" wheel scooter is actually a big scooter. This is fun to ride around on.
