Unfortunately, I appear to be the latest victim of Peter's unreliable sales business. Peter posted a box on the Boomboxery Facebook page in April and I immediately contacted him and paid his asking price via Paypal. The box he listed was a personal grail which is why I acted so quickly. He told me he would send me the tracking number when he shipped it. I waited a month with no response so I contacted him and he told me he had broke some fingers which made it to difficult to pack. He assured me that he would send it out that week. Two weeks later, still no tracking number and no contact from Peter! So I contacted him again and he said it had already shipped and should be there in 10-20 shipping days. I waited another month and no box. :bang: I contacted him again and he said he was on vacation and didn't have the tracking info on him but it should be there any day and if not he would send it when he got back. It didn't arrive :annoyed: , shocker, so I sent him another message asking for the tracking number again. He didn't respond however I can see that he read the message. :nonono: So I sent another message and still no response!

I'm aware that people who purchase boxes over the internet are taking a risk. But I strongly believe that when a member here actively solicits buyers from this website to purchase there boxes they need to be held to a higher standard. Can you imagine waiting 3 months for an item from an Ebay seller and not filing a claim? Probably not, right? Unfortunately, I wasn't fully aware of Peter's reputation until after I made the purchase(I was excited to get my hands on this box), which is why I made a hasty uniformed decision. I even sent the payment at my expense, sending it as a gift versus a purchase(which would have cost Peter a % of the sale). :dunce:

I have since learned that there are other members who are currently waiting for Peter to ship them boxes as well. So I guess in summary my point is this: If you are going to be unreliable, dishonest or untrustworthy please don't take it out on your fellow boombox enthusiasts!! 99+% of the people I have met here are great, supportive and informative people! It's just very disappointing when somebody abuses your trust.

Lesson learned. (and yes it was a very expensive lesson)

It makes no difference, either buyer or seller can accept the charges and even where money is sent as a personal payment, you can still claim so although this appears to be unacceptable behaviour (I'm not passing comment on things I know nothing about), there is hope as long as you enter your claim within the usual 60 days. I know this as I bought some records from a non-eBay source back in March and had to claim when the things hadn't arrived yet in May.
As long as you fund your paypal account by card and not through a bank account, you're covered.

Wishing you luck and hoping you get either your money or the grail.

Personally, I have had good experiences with Peter and I think many other members will agree. Then again, this isn't the first time there are problems with an international transaction with Peter. Although I can totally understand your frustration, I'd trust Peter to provide you with the boombox you bought in the end.

I am going to use some careful judgment here and see if I can get a hold of Peter as well. The good part thus far in all of this is that it appears, while maybe difficult and needlessly long, he does come through. Some faster than others. There is a unique advantage for our Euro members, especially Germany. As John noted, you could file a claim as long as the funds were sent for goods or services. :-|

I have had quite a few good dealings with Peter, but lately he seems to be dropping the ball "so to speak".
I'v'e been waiting for several months for him to help me with parts for my beloved Telefunken Studio.
But I keep getting excuses about various things. :bang:
I love the guy like a brother, but come on Peter sort it out…….

I don't doubt that some of you have had good transactions with Peter, and I have no doubt at all that some of you have had some not so good dealings with Peter. Me, I've had 2 transactions and each time, I thought I was had, and required continued prodding and reminding. Each time, he promised to ship at a particular time when asked explicitly and each time, he did not. The second time, I was a bit more cautious and did not ship my end until he reached out to me to tell me he was ready (was a trade). It took about 1 year before he was ready and he apologized and offered to send a second boombox to make up for the delay. I was OK with that but once again, did not ship when promised, did ship later but did not include the second boombox -- just got an excuse. I decided not to pursue figuring I'll never get it and several years have passed, and sure enough, I never did get the "gift" box. I never publicly shared any of this except with a few close members. I've noticed that since then, there have been many other such iffy (it's been months, I didn't get my boombox) type transactions from other members dealing with Peter. A common theme though is if you are in Europe, you probably are happy with your dealings but if you are in the states, you have a higher chance of a stressful, worrisome, not so happy transaction.

I've bit my tongue before not wanting to get involved. But this has got to stop. Those of you that are defending Peter should remember one thing. NOBODY should have to wait months or even weeks for an item to be shipped. If you take someone's money, then ship the boombox immediately (days or prior arrangement is understandable) or refund the payment. Anything else is just downright shady and who cares if you eventually make right. Somebody else is probably worried sick that they may have just got scammed. Even if you "intend" to ship the item someday, taking your time and making excuses is selfish and completely inconsiderate for the other party. Another member here who was once well liked but fell into financial problems and then started looking after number one, buyers be damned; so getting shafted IS something to be worried about. I understand having financial difficulties. But ask to borrow money; your friends are generous people and may donate or find some way to help. But be upfront about it and don't use other members as a personally piggy bank. Too busy? That's fine. But then don't take any money until you have time to pack and are ready to ship. After all, 3 months (or more) after the fact, what do you think the buyer is thinking or going through? Do you care?

I've never entered into another transaction with Peter afterwards because I don't have the stomach for more of the same, and I've never regretted it. Peter sounds like a good guy. But I have many friends (family even) whom I would never do business with. Just expressing my 2 cents of how good business practice is done.

Super is right! There is no excuse to treat a person like that, ever!!

If you take someone's money & make them wait 3 months & don't even have the courtesy to respond to a msg asking about the box, then you SUCK!!! Thanx for the heads up on this guy. I won't buy a clock radio from him.

Sorry, but members here should be more solid than an ebay purchase, not the other way around....'F' fpr cpmplete failure....

There are other members here who pull crap too & then try to weasel out of their responsibility as a seller & member here. The real lesson here is NEVER send a GIFT payment. If the seller is too cheap to eat the 3.5% PayPal fee then he isn't a solid seller & you should walk away. The type of person who would avoid an invoice is the same type of person who avoids responsibility when things get complicated. I remember when Sinister did the same crap to a bunch of members & burned the lot of them. I wonder what happened to that bum....

Thanks for all the support guys! :-) It really wasn't my intention to use the forum as a sounding board on this issue. Hopefully, it will give members the ability to make an informed decision prior to making a purchase. I'm still hopeful that Peter will follow through and ship me the box or refund my money. It's just dissapointing that it's come to this. I made the decision to go public after speaking to a couple of members who were also waiting for Peter to ship boxes to them.

I've repeatedly heard that Peter has never not eventually shipped a box and I hope that if that's true, I'm not the first one who doesn't get thiers. I think the underlying issue is respect for your follow members. Being repeatedly assured that your box is on the way with no ability to track it is to say the least maddening (although I was promised a tracking number whe I purchased it). I can't tell you how many times I've come home for work looking for the parcel to be on my porch to no avail. :bang:

It kind of feels like the old Popeye cartoons where Wimpy would ask for money to buy a hamburger and would gladly pay you back next week. Maybe I should have people send me the box first and then I'll ship the payment at a later date.

So the lesson is this: Caveat Emptor (buyer beware) and for good measure: Be good to your fellow members!

Boomboxery Rocks!

I'm hoping My item has been shipped (by said party) as well. I received a PM from him approximately 2 weeks ago, asking for my mailing address. I'm remaining hopeful.

Well, the whole 'broken fingers' excuse is a red flag for me. Did anyone else hear that from this guy? Probably not. Another question. Did Bpunk ask for the gift payment & how many members paid with gift payments? If you get together, you can all call PayPal & explain what the scam is & maybe they can turn the heat up on him for being a skank....

Good luck & always do an invoice for goods with PayPal, no Amazon payments please....

Peter ships boomboxes slowly... sometimes very slowly. These stories are all over Boomboxery, so anyone making a deal with Peter should know this beforehand. From my own experience with Peter it took a long time (longer than I wanted) to get a GF-9191 parts box, but it did arrive and was packed well.

I have a story very similar with a radio trade I made with Peter. It took months to show up, but it did show up, well packed, but not working. Can't be sure if it was damaged in shipping. No way to know.

I think Peter is a nice person, but like mentioned above, SHIP ON TIME! No excuses.

There are people in this world that are procrastinators. It's almost debilitating sometimes.

Peter has some of the greatest radio's ever built and it's very tempting. But if your not willing to deal with Peter and his lazy shipping, I suggest looking elsewhere.

Like you Styleking, I sent PM after PM, no reply, could see he read them. Then out of the blue a package showed up...

I would like to have confidence that you will get your radio, but who knows

***Update***

Peter responded to my inquiries today. He provided some pictures of the packing of the box and a tracking number. As I suspected the tracking number shows that the parcel was mailed today. :sadno: Well I guess it's better late than never? :hmmm: I hope that this is a sign of good things to come for the others who were waiting on other items from Peter. I'll keep you updated!
