Big Japanese Boombox Haul: Toshiba Time

I've been so busy I haven't had time to post the next radio unboxed....so here we go...

TOSHIBA BomBeat RT S84
(Super AKA)

This is right out of the box with really no clean up. I think it will present well on the concourse after a good cleaning. The record button needs to be handled....not sure whats up with that. Both decks work, but need a rebelting.

She has her battery door and the compartment looks nice and clean

For the most part this is a very stripped down radio with very few features. It's not the most powerful radio by any means but over all, it's not bad. A good party blaster for sure!

It's a good size and weight for carrying.

Has a place for a strap holder, so going to have to work on that. It's not an overly heavy box, but I do like strap features!

Has a nice straight single antenna with the tip!

I can totally see this being a radio I will use regularly. Not a total grail, not a total shelf queen. Just a great traveler / party blaster!

Over all.....I'm happy with this purchase.....THIS ONE.....I'M Keeping!

You know, the sound isn't that bad....I was surprised. NO, it's no M70, that's for sure....But if you want a radio that you don't have to worry about, a radio that there are ton's of out there....this is a good one. I like it. I can totally use this on the road with the band and not have to freak out that it will get trashed / have beer spilled on it and it goes loud enough to have a party!

Yep, there are lots of AKA's on this one....I figured Toshiba is a big name, I'll go with that one! Oh that and it was cheap....like $2.00 or something like that! How could I go wrong

Yep, not a bad deal....

So Fuz, When Peter (aka Fresh Produce) was over, he showed me a strap you made for him for his JVC 550 that would be much like the one I have. The issue I have is, my hook up area does not come apart.

Maybe you could help me with this.

Very nice looking Chris I just traded my AKA Kingspoint to another member. These boxes are big, good looking and has good sound. Another nice feature is you can listen to radio using speakers and someone else can listen to line in or deck using headphones at same time

There were so many of these on Yahoo.Jp I actually bought a few of them, but one of them never showed up and I got my money back and the other the deal never went through and the seller was pulled from the auction. They were just so cheap, I thought How could I go wrong. Thankfully one did show up and out of all three, this one was the cleanest.

The woofer's are 5.5in or 5.25in

Here is a size comparo with the M70
