Hi all

I Recently acquired something I have been after for a while now.....the undisputed lightweight king, that's right you guessed it.....the Unisef SZ 5000 after posting my tosh 9510 for trade, I got a swift reply from trusted member mmcodomino aka Max, saying he may have one for me. Anyway to cut a long story short we agreed a trade and I recieved my Unisef in one piece and fully working. All was needed was a little clean and she looks minty I can tell you I already knew about the sound and build quality, after owning the crown sz 5100 several years ago, so there was no surprises there lol. For me this box is all about the look, because when all said and done, it looks bloody fantastic.

As most of you guys know it doesn't have line in but the mic mix feature can be used for this method and sounds just as good imo. Everything on this box works including both decks, which is always a bonus. I know this box has no mass following due to it's sound but in all honesty they don't sound too bad atall. Lets put it this way.....I have heard far worse. So am I happy? too right I am, I have the big black blingy box that I so craved in my collection not to mention this box was made famous in the Eric Prydz video CAll On Me, you know the one with all the nice ass in lol Ok so here's a few pics I managed over the weekend, and thanks once again Max for a real smooth hassle free trade.......

I love an empty black box, how much does this weigh? I would measure the weight of my Watson as a comparison between similarly lightweight boxes but it's windy today so it probably won't stand still unless I glue it to the floor.

i owned several of these back in the day and brand new ones no less. needless to say my trc 931 was like a rolls royce compared to the sz 5100. anyhow still didn't stop me from buying at least 2 of the crowns over the years but i knew i was near the bottom of the heap when carrying the crown ,but with the 931 or the m90 it was right back up to the top instantly . that's about the difference in status when you carried the crown motherfuckers knew you were poor .but hell now you could get rich from them lol.

Cool to hear about the status direct from those that were there on the streets... puts the boxes in context... I've got a sz-5100 and lightweight it may be but as Systemaddict sez... it's all about the look! I collect for aesthetic mostly and the crown adds huge impact to a collection which is otherwise mostly all silvers and greys.

Re that knob; we know from the wanted thread that Crown and Unisef knobs aren't a match, but how about the Binatone AKA? No, I haven't just dug one of these up with my potatoes but it might be another strand to an otherwise pretty limited search?

Do you have pics of this Binatone aka John? I never even knew it existed.

It's probably exactly the same as the Unisef version, most of the Binatone stuff that was available in other brands was distinguished by name only. I had one through my hands in the late '90s but it didn't stay with me for too long.
