So, I have been chatting with member rokbox2112 about him getting his 920 up and running and the subject came up about the BEST Lasonic models...Hence the poll...

But more than that....I would like to see some other poll's on other manufacturer's. "BEST OF THE BRAND"

Obviously we got some serious collectors of Sanyo, JVC's, Sony's, Sharps and so on and I would like to see them post some poll's on the VERY BEST of those brands to see what Boomboxery's opinion's are....

Might be a way for people to figure out what they want....

I think this best of the brand idea is pretty cool

Though probably the most popular model of a brand is often not a surprise. The M90 would most likely be the best JVC. And the GF-777 the best Sharp? The 5350 the best National? The 970 the best Crown? The S90 or Bombeat 40 the best Toshiba?
Well, let's see everyone's opinion :-)

Yeah, I think it would be interesting to see if any surprises came up. Also, I'm no pro on most models, so it would be a learning experience for me

Well, if so it will be really pity for the forum ... For examp - what is so special around M90 ? The sound, the big value , LL pictures??? Lets be honest and admit that the Boomblaster/kaboom have given lot more to the scene and even now is producing after many years and have countless AKAs and mimics. For lasonic must be quite easy on first look. it would be 931 st edition for about the same reason. Sharp? Best of them deffo is Sharp RD-688 AV who is the ONLY boombox ever approved for studio work and mastering records .
Same stories with other brands...
So i hope the answer is not so easy and pushed from the ebay prices and mainstream
Here i voted for the second edition 931 because of the refined LEDs

This is what I am hoping for....conversation that stretches beyond the OBVIOUS names we all know...I know JVC made more than just the M70/90. I know those are important for lots of reasons BUT when we go deeper, there is more to be found

IMO I still feel the Lasonic TRC975 is the King of Lasonic  After owning most all Lasonics and owning the 2nd Edition 931 and the 975 from new. The 935 is a great sounding box and its cool to look at the led EQ but I don't like the slider pots for volume and balance :nonono: as for other brands I agree with some of the members here is my thoughts ;-)

1. JVC - RC M90
2. Sanyo- Big Ben
3. Sharp- VZ2000
4. Fisher- PH492
5. Conion- C100

As for others like Hitachi, Toshiba, Aiwa, Sony and so on I've never really owned any top models so I can't really say :-)

I voted for the wrong box. :dunce:

That said, it's a hard choice, for me, between the TRC-920 and the TRC-931 (1st edition).

Hey dudes! There are some great boxes out there I know. I don't go around thinking mine is the best but I drink four 211 steel reserve and lay my head down touching the lower tape deck of my Lasonic TRC-931 (2nd edition) and let the boom boom boom of those big old woofers drive away the craziness of my job, my wife and my bills. Then I get up and kiss my wife and go to work and pay my bills. :-)

Didn't see this thread until now :dunce: .

This is a hard vote for the Lasonic.

:hmmm:

I have 7 different ones. The 1st/2nd gen 931 is hard to beat because the overall size and sound is the best, but the 975 is just a bigger version of the 931 but sometimes can be too big for taking around. :hmmm:
