I hadn't seen any in thrifts for years, but never say never.
I still pop into my local thrifts at least twice a week.
Suddenly, this one Thrift has been turning out some boxes.
I found this huge Hitachi one day and this Yorx the following week.
When I got to the counter, the cashier lady said that I just missed another one that they had with two cassette decks in it.
That could have been anything! My mind went racing. I added some better tweeters and heftier speakers to the Yorx. Touched it off with some red.

WOW! That's a good haul from a thrift shop, I've never seen any audio equipment of any description in my neck of the woods but, us you say, never say never!

I Also have the Hitachi TRK-9100 (see this thread) but, as I wanted an improved sound from the speaker, I took advice (see this thread) and the difference was much improved. For me, the only gripe I have is the volume control knob, I prefer the 'all round' type allowing for finer adjustments at lower volumes. Good box, though and a nice looker!

Seems like most thrift shops have wised up and are selling their boomboxes on Ebay these days.

I like the Yorx just for its mad triple decks! Great to find them in thrift/charity shops...I've only found a couple this way but they were both good finds. Congrats :-)

the charity shops over here do seem very sparse, seems our u.s counterparts fare much better  ive just started doing house clearances with a friend of mine,so perfect opportunities to possibly aquire some in the future, but seen as though im not officially collecting any more ill only pick them up now if theyre special.hoping for an m70 at some point, but im not blessed with that much luck, even then my mates not oblivious to true values etc so i might be outa luck
great posting though OSS,its always good to see them in the wild, then being bought by one of our great members
the hitachi is a nice sounding machine, last count i think id had about four.the three decker yorx is superb, and i bet it sounds much crisper with your exellent speaker upgrade....nice work ;-)

Very nice OSS,what model is the silver one?
I haven't been to thrift stores in ages as I'm thinning down the herd but I feel I might be missing some rare ones.

Yeah those Hitachi are a nice radio. I believe it's the trk 7100 , could be wrong though.
