I did not notice "harsh" treble when I listened to it. Admittedly I didn't listen to every genre of music on it.

Was it an M90 or TPR-955 clarity of treble, no.....but I wasn't expecting it to be.

Plus let's not pretend the Sharp was hifi-caliber either. Its bass gets really muddy if you push it, and it doesn't go nearly as deep as the Bumpboxx does.

I think the vast majority of you will be happy.

Thinking ahead, it would be a huge help if they release the schematics and chassis wiring diagram to help future repair efforts.

Kind of late for it now, but it would've been nice if a pocket had been designed into the back of the case where the remote could snap into. As Techmoan pointed out, losing the remote means losing functionality not available on the unit itself

Its not a great review from Techmoan no matter how much he glosses over it. The harsh treble is probably the most worrying!
Yeah that was my big takeaway too. In the end it always comes down to sound quality. You're gonna sit for hours and listen to your boombox, it better sound good. So many modern amps sound harsh and brittle, mostly due to shitty class D design. Class D can sound good, just needs some help. I'm a 777 backer and was hoping this one would sound as good as it looks. Also concerned about how to take it apart to service and upgrade. I guess we'll see...

I am also worried about the harsh treble. As you say, that's what we want it for, playing music all day long. If it tires me or sounds strange, that would be terrible

One thing I really was hoping for was track titles when playing from USB. Always found the missing track titles the biggest downside of the DJ Tech Boombox. I assumed it wasn't the case with the BB-777 because of the big display. Learning that this box also doesn't show track titles makes me feel let down.

This is the first time I start to worry if I made a mistake with this.

I also want to add that it was great to hear that Bumpboxx listened to Techmoans findings and tried to resolve them. They want it to be a success for the collectors, the consumers and the tech guys alike. Thumbs up!

I have been commenting on the Kickstarter and Facebook pages and they said it's too late to change certain things now it's in production.
They said the first run was produced in April to be sent out in June. Trouble is, unless they made a mistake and meant May, there is no way that any of the faults techmoan mentioned could have been implemented as his video was made after April?
I am a little concerned that they've said that future versions will have improvements That leaves us early backers with inferior products.

I always hate to leave these negative comments because I really am rooting for this product and the company. Everything I say is from a position of just wanting the best finished boombox.

I trust that the issues they say will be corrected will be. I am holding out faith. The FM reception going down while charging is a bummer. Sounds like that wasn't able to be resolved. Likely because that is hardware related and not something a firmware/software update can solve. You might could pull the battery out when on AC to see if that issue goes away. It could just be the charging circuit causing the interference. It's either that or the the power supply. They can be quite noisy in that department even when sheilded. I have noticed that the mini M90 by NWT's does the exact same thing. As far as the tuner, I would have preferred a red stereo indicator light versus the Stereo logo showing on the display but I suppose that's me just being picky. I am wondering if the fan goes out if the amp overheats and/or if the box becomes inoperable as a result. If I take it to the beach, it would likely ingest sand, etc.. Maybe it will be a beach house radio versus one to take down to the sand. I might put a high flow filter on mine to help protect it from dust/dirt. The CD missing almost 1 second of audio playback would have been annoyingly notceable so I am glad that was able to be corrected through firmware. My aiwa backtrack skips out on audio but it does it with cassettes not CD. When playing a cassette, it takes a second for the amp to come on when you press play. That doesn't bother me. But it also does the audio amp muting on quiet parts of a tape to try and eliminate hiss and that sometimes cuts off the end or beginning of a song. Very annoying. I would rather hear the hiss than have a muting circuit. The aiwa's VU's do swing great without having to blast it so the LED output being corrected on the BB-777 is going to be nice. Sometimes you want to see flashing lights without having to annoy everyone. I have always preferred meters that do input versus output like the Conion and M90, Panasonics and others. They are way more useful with recording and it solves that problem with not seeing them in acton until cranking the volume. As far as karaoke, I don't really care about mic input volume because I don't sing and no one wants to hear me sing. Trust me ;-)

How about the digital recording though!!! 192kbps versus 128!!! That is actually decent enough to listen to. We all knew about the erase head. Nice touch to add an active versus passive. As long as you stay away from high speed dubbing, it sounds very good. I like the auto stop they used here. It's going to save a lot of tapes from getting chewed.

This review was something that I commend BB for allowing to happen. It adds another layer of transparency IMO. Because of this review, we all know what to verify has been or has not been corrected when we get ours. They could have overlooked these issues and just sent out a box that performed exactly the way Techmoan's radio did. Then fix it later for those outside of kickstarter. I love my mini M90s but I will say that was the one thing that annoyed me about that project. The kickstarter model did not have AM and had volume stepping problems with BT hiss issue. The ones that people are getting now have AM and the box works perfectly. I only found out after I paid regular price for a black speaker model. Otherwise that was a great project. Looks like Bumpboxx is trying to keep that from happening to us :-)

I seen in the Techmoan video that he removed all the screws out to take apart but couldn't get it apart. probably a bunch of those annoying clips that break easy incorporated :(

I think it was more of Bumpboxx covering their A$$ as much as possible to avoid a mass of cancelled orders, lol.

Yea im a bit worried about that too as i have ordered a founders edition unit and hope that the update fixes Mentioned in the techmoan review are addressed before shipping out the units as we get ours shipped first.

I was thinking of a fan filter myself, like buy a filter that is for the ps5 fan and cut it down to fit the area of the bumpboxx fan, but if its a p.i.a. to even take the unit apart as techmoan had issue with then that idea may be a no go.

I never thought about losing the remote and, with it, dedicated functions for the 777. It would be nice in future versions if an app from Bumpboxx could be used in lieu of a remote control for those dedicated functions. It would be nice to travel with the worry of packing the remote.

It also would have been nice if the fan had an exterior access/ mount (while remaining flush) for easy replacement. Given the difficulty in opening the case, belt changes and fan replacements could be profanity laced tasks

Just my 2 cents

Remotes over apps all day, but could do both I suppose. I'm just sick of everything being shoved into an app these days

I know Techmoan doesn't figure people would want to see the insides of the radios/devices he reviews but that's actually my favorite part. I was disappointed that he was not able to get it apart. I am sure he might have had to send that back when he was done. It was either snapped or possibly glued shut. Either way, if you didn't want someone taking it apart, whatever method they used, worked ;-) but I like to see how serviceable (or not) that it is. Hoping if I need to service mine with a new belt, etc. that it comes open once the screws are removed. Another reason is because I might want to adjust the cassette speed and they do not always give you an access hole in boomboxes to do that. Most of these I find are off just a bit. Even if they are accurate at the factory, the belt relaxes and the lube and mechanics wear in. Resistance goes down and speed creeps up. On the plus side, I know what the cassette transport looks like outside of the case but other than that, I imagine it to be surface mount chips like most fo the modern radios such as the aiwa backtrack, etc.. Being a single motor design on the decks, at least you would only need to calibrate one transport and the other should follow.

There's probably some hidden screws in the cassette wells or behind the tuner knob, or maybe on the bottom under the rubber feet. Either that, or a lot of adhesive tape was used.

Poor FM reception is caused by these crappy power supplies.

All of you should tune a boombox or a FM tuner on a free frequency ( like 87,5 wich is mostly unused)
You will hear a lot of crap caused by smps in your house . I checked once , and the distance between a boombox and a smps was 10 meters.
So strong are these interference pos. When a box has a built in smps , yeah . FM reception is gone

They said the mp3 @192kbps as in techmoans video is the way it will ship, even though they said it would be wav originally. That's another downgrade, though it doesn't really bother me as I won't be using that feature.
They said that they halted production because the heatsink being fitted wasn't the one they specced. Guess that shows they do care about quality.
