Yeah, I was watching it, but never placed a bid. That PH-470 is one sexy boombox.

Sweet box...i believe all the running gear inside is Sanyo manufactured as it is an AKA of the MR-P6. Very desirable.

Yeah, these are real beauties. They don't seem to come up very often. I'd have bid on it if I wasn't save My nickels & dimes for NY.

 Actually I'm the one who won it, but I haven't paid yet. The seller (irish8642 from Boca Raton FL) is an idiot. A few days before the auction ended, I asked him whether he had the battery doors, and whether he could get stations in Stereo, and whether he had actually tested the tape deck. No response. Sent it again a couple days later. No response. I decided to bid anyway, and won it. Then I get an email from Ebay saying it had been shipped, even though I hadn't paid yet. :dunce: Apparently he had accidentally marked it "paid" and it was blocking me from paying. I had to call Ebay to figure out what to do, so I could tell him how to fix it on his end. He was too lazy to figure out how to fix it himself. Finally he fixes it, sends me an invoice, and tells me to add an extra $13 for shipping, even though the original amount ($34) was correct for a box of that size. He promises to refund it if it's not necessary. By that time I was getting very leery of this guy, and so I told him OK fine I'll pay extra, but before I pay, could he please double-check the unit and confirm that the Stereo light comes on when he tunes it to a strong station? And whether the tape keys respond when pressed? He refuses to answer, and accuses me of trying to back out of the sale, and that I should have asked those questions before the auction ended (I did, twice!!!), and that he has "plenty other buyers" . I told him I have no problem paying his price, but that I just want him to answer my questions. No response.

By the way, his last message was typed in all caps. Who does that anymore?

For those of you who want to take the risk, feel free to contact him and make an offer (or let him send you a Second Chance offer). I'm not going to take the risk on a box with a complicated LCD tuner, owned by a guy with an iffy feedback rating who refuses to answer any questions about it. I'm sorry but "works great" is not a sufficient Ebay description.

To me, that all spells NO DEAL. Anyhow looking at the design and switch cover etc, I would not be surprised if it doesn't share some innards with Sony CFS-D7.

Every time I see someone win an auction with 2 seconds to spare, I figure it is you using the bid sniping tool...

Me? I don't use one of those tools, I'm too lazy to figure them out. I just set my alarm right before the auction ends. It's not that difficult. Either way, why WOULDN'T you bid at the very end?
