I disocovered this while looking for a good Photoshop alternative. My main problem with photoshop is cost. As anyone who has ever had any kind of Adobe software knows, the price is friggin ridiculous.

Well, I've always loved playing with Linux developed platforms that have been made compatible for Windows but haven't done so lately. So in my search I discovered GIMP 2.6.7. I had used earlier versions but they were a bit cranky on the Windows platform rather than on Red Hat, Ubutnu, etc.

This one is pretty slick and has lots of plug ins. And the best part...it's free! Ahh the sweet smell of free and creative innovation!

So I was curious about who here uses alernates to Photoshop? :-D

I made my avatar using GIMP 2..6.7.

Chock one up for the gimper.

Well, I got an old version of photoshop so no need to play with alternatives. BUT I know what you mean about the cost for adobe products which is like why I'm still using adobe acrobat 5.0. It may be way out of date but it still creates pdf files and I don't feel like spending another $600 for another copy (or whatever they cost nowadays).
