Here's my vintage 1970 Tonka 2585 Hydraulic Dump Truck I won off ebay.
Very desireable Tonka toy. You dont see many left in good shape with box. This one was barely played with, hence the condition. There are no significant dents or dings or rust. It was obviously either well-loved or significantly neglected. The 2585 also came in red. Made in U.S.A. Pressed Steel.

Wow! One very similar to that but without the potentially lethal ram under its bed made £480 in a roup over in Dumfries back in August, and this was just a small, local event rather than something organised by one of the specialist antiques & collectables auction hice.
That's a superb save, well done!

that's awesome! love the color too. i used to cry whenever my mom took me to the toy store because i wanted one of the tonka fire trucks that had the tractor with the trailer that had the big ladders on it ,we were too poor to afford one though. i must have 5 or 6 of them now and the big ass bulldozer and front loader , damn i love me some tonka trucks but only the older all metal ones.

My brother had a bunch that size, that all came painted bright yellow, I remember. Dump truck (with ram, too,) bulldozer, backhoe, and road grader, if I remember correctly. Got to play with them a lot from '68 to '72, and I hear ya, Floyd.

I love me some Tonka's, too. Just never have owned any.

I had a slew of Tonka (and the similar Nylint) trucks. My greatest childhood memory was watching my dad go ballistic while dealing with the cut sidewall of his tire after backing over a couple of my trucks in the driveway. A true testament of how tough these toys were. :-D

Nice condition! Real toys.. good point. Some of the ones I buy my kids these days do not even make it home before breaking!

I saw a full size yellow tonka wagon in a second hand store recently. I probably should have bought it. It was all metal with Tonka wheels, all in really good condition. I went back a few days later.. and it was gone.

I know someone who attached one of those to each foot and went roller skating. Trouble was that they weren't equipped with steering. He still has the crooked nose and the scar above his left eye....
