Already broke my new years resolution

Well, I said I wasn't going after any more radio's until I got everything I have up and running. But I'm always looking at Craigslist, just for the hell of it. I found an ad where a guy had a GE 3-5455B for trade of camping / hiking equipment. He was looking for a framed hiking pack and since my knee doesn't seem to have much long distance hiking left in it, I hit him up and we made the trade.

It cleaned up well, everything works, cassette plays but I will rebelt it anyway. Even came with a brand new set of batteries!

Anyone got information regarding the rechargeable feature on this radio?

Yeah, I know some of the TRC 931's had a rechargeable feature, this is the only radio I have with it.

The spare holder is cool. Two 120 minute cassettes and your good to go!

That box is quite a looker, a bit differant from the norm with some rare features.

The spare holder is cool. Two 120 minute cassettes and your good to go!

Live a little, take a couple of C180s. Tape thinner than Rizla Silver but TDK DC180s are pretty reliable.
I like that box, it's different enough to be interesting.

My brother's little GE 3-5622A also has the rechargeable feature. We had no idea what it was when we were kids, and we still have no idea.

OK, Well....I thought maybe if I ran rechargeable batteries in it that I could just plug it into the wall and they would charge NO???

Thanks guys....it's a small mid sized radio, but the 3 band EQ makes it usable. I've been working out in the garage all day and it's great, plenty loud enough and you know what, for a lower end radio, it's still a General Electric and the quality is actually there!

Keep in mind a lot of boxes will have trickle back voltage while on AC, thus why the higher end ones had an AC/DC switch. And why many had warnings to remove batteries whilst on AC.
