Hello Peeps

Well, I am still here & although recovery is so bloody slow, it is happening - am not yet able to work on stereo's, stupid stress levels hit the roof when I try & do anything more than rest or take my dog in the garden - that's about all I do at the moment

I AM getting there though & Tim, I am going to start on your lot as soon as I can

Anyway, leaving the ***king illness behind, I bought this on ebay

Yes really!! lol Crazy!!

This is how it came as already stated I can't open it up just yet & anyway, it needs so little doing, just a new belt on the detachable tape player/recorder - it does play very well just a little wobbly

This a bloody ALBA for gods sake

how can you expect anything from it?? But this is early 80's Alba when they were still at Bull Lane, London & marketed some nice stuff! This is made in Korea & although quite basic, it is lovely & well made, a proper detachable tape section, a very decent tuner, my place is full of spurious emissions from computer & router plus wireless servers etc & many tuners really struggle to work at all in here - this Alba locked onto an FM Stereo station with ease

The Sound?? Well watch the video (with headphones if you don't have decent PC speakers)

This thing sounds bloody awesome, very detailed with bass an Alba has no right to kick like this stereo does

Am def gonna do a deep clean & belts when I am able!! I mean £5.50 ffs!! What a result & despite serious courier problems, I am delighted with something I wasn't expecting anything from

Wow £5.50 !! Thats a lot of stereo Nick for just over a deep sea diver.

It does seem to sound bloody good, didnt expect much for an Alba i bet. You do find some gems.

Never had an alba but my first 15"" tv was an b&w alba....never seen one built like this Nick lad, for christ sake it even has what looks like metal headphone and mic sockets....i hope you recover quickly Nick always nice to look at you're threads, maybe i should start posting up my boxes again but i have been that down with depression etc i just don't feel like it at the moment, god bless lad atb Reno

Thanks guys, you all say such kind things! There will be more when I am better - the damn depression is big here too & slows down recovery a great deal Just coming on & reading the replies really does make my day & Reno, don't let it drag you down buddy, easy to say but it can be beat eventually - it's a horrid affliction & people's kindness is the only cure in my opinion

Hey, that's pretty good....................................for an Alba! I'm pleasantly surprised as Alba were renowned nationwide for producing low end audio equipment that enjoyed an unenviable reputation in UK.
