"Mmmm..........." my arse - I snapped it up despite the hefty price tag of £8.70!!! :-D :-P

Bought from a young lady with little knowledge or interest in BB's, previously owned by her grandfather. Not a mark on this beauty that I can see, deck needs a service and radio works just as it ought to. Before I brought this home today I never realised how heavy this model was or just how nice it sounds - this is already one of my favourite boxes.

We saw this finish and were all stunned at the price, thats what collection only will do. Brilliant box Mom, i would be surprised if it doesn't end up being in your top three boxes, they are awesome. Great score!

That’s a fantastic score Christine. I was watching it and wondered who had got it. Very pleased you ended up with it.
A jewel in your collection. £8.70!? What can you get for that nowadays? A coffee and a couple of brownies?

Thanks, All, for the many positive replies - I'm still having sneaky little laughs over this. As has been said, ya just gotta love collection only sales as they usually keep the price way down low.

I've just replied to a nice pm from a member with this: While I was at the lady's house collecting the BB we had a little chat and.......................I also bagged a Pioneer SX-550 Tuner/Amp and a late 60's/early 70's stereo record plater a swell - a good days hunting if ever there was one! My Sony FM-7 was a local pick up only sale so I managed to bag that for £16.00. I have music, audio of all kinds and media storage items at a mere fraction of a usual selling price with collection only item - I love a bargain.

Here's something for (mainly) UK members:
I live in Sleaford which has Lincoln, Bourne, Grantham, Newark, Boston (to name but a few) as near neighbouring towns. If there is sale/auction item you take a liking to and would be happy for me to collect and forward to you then I'd be more than happy to help. Let me know via pm and we can sort out the details. I have sent many BB's safely overseas so packing wouldn't/shouldn't be a problem.

IMO the wide setting on this sounds better and more realistic than Panasonic's Ambience

PMSL - I should have said I paid £10.00 - that would have been serious profit on a re-sale! :-D

That's an awesome radio but working on it would be like trying to untangle a bowl of spaghetti lol.
It's worth the trouble it's just a real hassle
. Awesome score these were made before they knew how to make radios cheap.

Ever since I saw how feature laden this BB is I was thinking the inside will probably be a swear word edited to work on - thanks for the confirmation! :bang:

It’s not great but not a s bad as a 9998 or something. A couple of boards to move to access the deck. If it’s an Aiwa there will be plenty of black gunk to clean however.
