Hi folks,

does anyone have a fader knob as seen on the Aiwa TPR 920 Record level controls? It has a red stripe on it, but a playback one with the white stripe would do.
Looks like the 915 and a few other Aiwa models have the same knobs/caps on the fader. (See pic for example)

I’m new here but have lurked a while and am looking forward to restoring my TPR 920 which is mint condition except for this one part. The machine has a lot of sentimental value to me, and if I can’t find one I’ll have to try and cast a replacement.

Best wishes
Adam

Hi Adam,
I`ve noticed a 915 for sale in the U.K. on eBay..seller is asking £50 for it for spares..pricey for a knobthough ! ( but if it`s gonna be a long term keeper the other bits on it might be handy later too ?)

Hi Guys,

Yes I’ve seen the 915 on eBay, I was tempted, but it’s a lot of cash for one knob, and I’d end up restoring both and keeping them. Space is at a premium as it is in my house! :)

And unfortunately that replacement Wes posted is quite different and wouldn’t look right. I appreciate the thought though. I do have some that would fit already myself but the shape and size are different.

I’m starting to think I’d rather invest a little in a rtv silicone Mold kit, then cast a Mold from the one I have and make a replacement with resin. That way it would be the correct size and shape, I could probably match the colour and paint the stripe on.

I’ll hold off a while in case something else shows up. I still need to sort the belts and dial cord for the radio

Best wishes

HI Adam,
good luck with your search..I`ll keep my eyes peeled for you..
If you go for a silcon kit let me know..I have a job for you !:-):-)
Part of one of the aerial clips on my TPR 950 recently broke off so I`m hoping to replace it.
Luckily these are screwed onto the main case so can be replaced in minutes with a replacement freshly made piece .
I know what you mean about space -I`m probably stopping my collection at two ..the 950 and my 968 unless I see a nice small model that will squeeze into the kitchen somewhere.
