Got another one today, wife was thrilled... but here she is, she's a dirty girl, not sure if I got it for a reasonable price, but after I clean her up, inside and out, we'll see where we stand with it. Might have to look for another if I'm not satisfied. I need complete antennas, and when playing a tape it only seems to come out the left speaker kind of low/staticky, other than that it seems to all work well.

The love of these is to restore them to new. Give it a go and try to find a parts box. (It's more economical too.) BTW, what was wife's reaction?

Haha.... well.... she think's I'm crazy, (who knew???) but also I unfortunately had to agree "no more boomboxes, till we get a new house." and I have to get our approval amount figured out within a month or it goes... :(. Which i guess is okay, cause then I'll have room for more!!!

Negotiation is the key. ;-)

Just don't tell her. :w00t:

With some love and care you can turn that M70 into a nice looking box. It needs very good cleaning inside out, belt replacements, lubrication and Deoxit treatment. Hopefully the the channel problem will go away after the Deoxit treatment on the switches and sliders. :-D

When I had only 7 boxes 12 years back my wife said I have some serious 'problem'. :-D
After having having 20+ she said I am crazy. :w00t:
Now I have 60+ boomboxes alone, but for some reason she is very quiet these days.

It's time to get the back off and see what's what. The missing antenna bases is an odd omission. You'll need to check if the associated wiring is also missing. The lack of one channel on tape mode is of more concern. As you would appreciate, there could be any number of causes. Hopefully, it's something simple.

Although I've never worked on an M70, I've read they are a straight forward design from a servicing point of view.

Take your time and have fun,

James.... - :)

Congrats!! Time to get the switch cleaner out and yeh they're not bad to work on. And of course a bit of dirt is easy to clean. You'll have it perfect in no time :)

The missing bases for the aerials aren't the end of the world either...it's not impossible to adapt different ones to fit

Yea... it probably doesn't help I have....... let me think about it......... 6... i think... maybe 7 cars, and we're only 27.... She's one of those, looking at the future types, so she probably foresees more coming already.

That's good to hear they're not too bad to work on, I haven't gotten into it yet tonight, but hopefully this week some time.

Is this Deoxit stuff easy to find in local stores, or more of an online thing?

I get my Deoxit from Amazon.com. They have Deoxit specifically for sliders too. Have fun. :stereo:

Nice find and I'm loving the 1st and 2nd generation Lasonic's.

Sounds like you have a solid responsible plan for collecting...Find a house that will accommodate a MASSIVE COLLECTION and then COLLECT!

If you wife thinks you're crazy now, she should wait a year! :w00t:

Exactly... :). With the lasonics its funny cause i bought the 1st gen as a possible parts box cause it wasnt thought to be working, and liked the 2nd gen looks. But the more i see it the more i love it... Actually better than the 2nd now.
