Sadly I did not manage to brake soon enough to avoid hitting the other car with my left front corner. It was my fault but I just did not see it soon enough.
The other car has pretty much nothing since the impact itself was not too hard since I almost stopped but probably still had 8mph or so.
The bumper pushed the left fender in a lot and also ripped and deforemd the area under the front hood. The right side is still intact and so is the hood.
The carello is also undamaged. And the bumper should be fine again too.
I checked the electrics and everything still works too except for the horn which is on all the time so I took off the wire.
No pics yet - I can barely look at it myself. Gonna keep you posted on the repairs. I hope I do not have too buy more replacement parts than the bumper holders and they can bend/fix the rest again. New L87 on the fender and the front area is no problem since a friend of mine can do that.

Man - that was my worst day ever. Thanks for reading. :'-(

Sorry to hear of the accident. The good thing is that there are probably more reproduction body parts for the bug than any car in the history of man, and cheap too. Don't worry, be happy. It could be a lot worse. Brake earlier next time and leave more following distance, and move on in life. Don't get hung up on this. Too many roses left to smell, people to befriend and boomboxes to blast .. :-)

Glad to hear you are OK Max, but please, as you and Herbie are highly valued members of this forum, can I ask you to drive carefully please.

We rarely learn the lessons of life until we get the experience. Unfortunately the experience is not always pleasant or cheap.

If no one was hurt I'd say you are in great shape. Some money and you are back on the road, and you will soon forget the repair money you spent.

In the states people are sue crazy. They would try to hit you for a few hundred thousand in pain and suffering.
I had a lady hit me as she was going the wrong way on a one way street, and she tried to sue me for damages to her car. :-O That's America for you. :-P

That's a real drag man! Sorry to hear that, but your ok, no one go hurt and cars are fixable!

I did the same thing one time, I had a Sweet MG B built by my mechanic back in the 90's. It took almost 8 months to build the car. I had it 3 days and rear ended a car flattening the front of my car. WHY DO YOU ASK? I was watching some cute girl in a short skirt walking down the street! :nonono:

It Happens!

Sorry to hear that Max :'-( .
But look it that way - IMO any small accident is stopping you to move further for some time and get involved in a big crash. So your guard fairy made you to stop a little bit slower and saved you from bigger one  . Cars are fixable, people not. You are safe and ok. And Herbie is goin to be perfect soon enough. And you-even a better driver. I need a good driver fellow in Berlin  .

Thank for your nice words  .
I actually feel a lot better today. Yesterday I just wanted to hide in some cave and cry  .
I looked at it again and I hope the fixings are not gonna exceed 500€. I have 400 left and will get 300 at the end of the month so it shoudl all be covered.
The whole front of a bug is availible for 125 euros and replacement part and the same price for a fender.
BUT I think it might be possible to go through it without replacement parts. Metal is patient and can me molded nicely again and the rest can be evened out and painted. Nobody will see it again.
Cross your fingers for my optimism to come true  .
Ira is right - no pics. Nobody needs to see it. I will post pics when Herbie is running again  .
And Tony - don't worry. Stistics guarantee me an accident-free driving for a while  JK. I learned out of this. It happened on the raod which I drove on for the 500th time maybe. Routine is very dangerous :-/ .
Well, shiat happens but it is time to look forward  .
no new brakes either, Bobby ;-) The old ones are fine. It could have been way worse if I hit the other car with the full 35 mph.
Next monday should bring answers and next weekend should bring a fully intact Herbie again  .
Thanks for reading and sharing some nice words with me - I really needed that  .

it is all not that bad. Replacement parts will be around 250-300€. The rest to be paid is not gonna exceed 200-250 so I strongly hope this is gonna be a 500 or less deal.

:agree:
I put Brembo cross drilled rotors and Performance Carbon Metallic pads on the front of my Camry several years ago and now the brakes work so good it feels like I could stand the car up on it's nose if I push the brake pedal hard enough. :-D
