The speaker is on the left side. All of the monoboxes I've ever owned - excepting an Emerson CD-AM/FM picnic player - have had the speaker on the right...

A cursory check of PocketCalculator's boombox site...

and only 'right-handed' boomboxes stood out - never saw a 'lefty'. Being a southpaw myself, it'd be interesting to see a visual census of the monobox community.
