Went to see the new Tom Cruise movie OBLIVION last night at the Santa Barbara Drive In. I hadn't been to a drive in in 25 years!

It was allot of fun...

I recently built a monster car stereo, 16 speakers, 1,075 watts, 8 channels. Since they broadcast in FM, it was KILLER. Full digital picture and sound!

Awesome!! I've been wanting to go to drive in for a while but there are not many around. Might have to take my TA and go with top down for sure

There's a drive-in theater fairly close by, it's about a 40-minute drive. They even have double screens! I'm thinking we need to go see a movie there this year and take the M90. :-D

Wait, 16 speakers in THAT? There was room? Where did you put the subs?
It took 9 months to build. It has 4 very complicated shaped speaker boxes that fit into odd little spots in the car. As for the subs, I used two 3" Tang Band subs in 3" x 4" boxes that fit under the front of each seat. Without a doubt, that was the biggest challenge. That and getting all the wiring from the front of the car to the back of the car past the engine!

I have been meaning to write up a thread for Ferrarichat.com. If I do I will post it here as well.

But it sounded KILLER at the movies....all frequencies covered!

I used to install competition systems as a way to make extra money while I was stationed in SeaTac at Ft. Lewis. Sounds like an awesome system. And cars like these offer unique challenges of course. Way to overcome and enjoy at the dive in! :-D

Thanks man....It was a challenge I personally had to take on. I have had an MGB and MG Midget in the past that I built some crazy systems in, just to say I did it. But some time ago I read on the ferrari site that it couldn't be done. So I had too. The sad part is, unlike this site, where we have a strong brotherhood of support, those guys are cynical A-holes that shiat on this type of modification because "You should be listening to the engine man!" Well, that's all fine and good until mile marker 150 and you really need a change! That's really the reason I haven't posted this project over there. But I will just to piss some people off!

Plus, without it, how can you enjoy the drive in?

Sounds like the guys at your Ferrari site would piss on you for taking it to a drive in with the common Fords, Chevys, Chryslers, Toyotas, Hondas, and Nissans we common folk drive.

I don't want to put those guys down because there are some good guys on that site....but there are some real pretentious jerks as well.

Many moons ago, as previously mentioned, I had two MG's. A 1978 B and a 1978 Midget. I liked the cars, but they have issues, mostly with the carbs and ignition systems. I found that scraping the stock equipment for a Mallory dual point and a weber carb made them way more reliable and more fun to drive. I used to show the cars all the time. But I quickly found out that the British car show circuit was run by the same group of jerks and time and time again, I would get sent to the "Modified Section" which consisted of me and one other guy who had a 1959 MGA with a blown small block Chevy in it. We were always parked 50 yards away in the sun, while all the other cars were parked together under the trees.

Needless to say, I stopped going.

The Ferrari guys aren't that bad, but car stereo's in 308's are like some kind of super no no. They act like you're spitting on Enzo's grave or something. Me, I just like music....nothing really more than that. Plus, the car does really sound beautiful, but after 10 minutes on the freeway, I'm dozing off. It's like a wonderful harmony that puts me to sleep! Sometimes I just need to drowned it out with Iron Maiden or some wicked Dubstep!

Great pic of the Drive-in and of course that lovely motor of yours.

I don't think I've ever heard of a drive-in in the UK, I guess we don't have the weather :sadno:

Hey Bill,

The subs that I used work because the interior space of my car is so small. I don't think it would work for you. But this might.
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_42488_NVX-QBUS8.html

Thanks Chris I actually was looking at this exact system made by Boss for like $85. All I'm looking for is some bass because all I have from system is literally mids and highs :-)
