Without any guessing threads or pictures of the cardboard box it came in, I am going to give the whole story now of how I got hold of a BomBeat 40 :-)

It all started back in fall last year when I found an ad for the Crown 970 that was in Greek. It was an ad from the 80s so I assumed there could be some 970s in Greece.
Of course I went ahead and ask my local friend and Gyro supplier Evangelos to keep his eyes peeled for one in the Greel local ads or maybe to instruct relatives and friends to look for one. :-)
As expected, he did not find anything but it was worth a try after all  .
After a few weeks passed by and I already found a 970 somewhere else, I went to his restaurant to have some good greek food. That was in January.
We got into talking and somehow get to boomboxes. (I know, it is not that hard to start a boombox talk with me around  )
I asked him if he had found a Crown 970 for me by now and meant it in a rather funny way.
He picked up on it and told me that he sadly did not find a Crown so far. BUT there was an online ad with some Toshiba "that looked quite nice".
I was pretty sure it was some cheapy as Evangelos has no idea about boomboxes actually. And you can imagine how my chin fell to the floor when he showed me this:

I had to contain myself not to yell at him "BUY IT, BUY IT, BUY IT!!!!" :w00t:
But, let's put it this way, he knew I really wanted it  . So he actually went ahead and bought it :w00t: .
Well, your eyes are not damaged, you see the actual price it was: 40€! :-O
But, as you can see, the seller has NO feedback whatsoever. He had a few other ads up for an old TV and a ceiling fan but that was it. After trying to call him for three days, we got no answer :sadno:
But then he answered the phone :w00t: :w00t: :w00t: :breakdance:
Turned out he was a farmer in Athens and thought the radio was too nice to throw it away.
Well, after a long chat with Evangelos of which I did not understand a word, he said he arrnaged everything and the seller would ship it to Germany :w00t: .
Three more days went by and we heard nothing from him :-/
Then, the view counter on the ad suddenly went up by 100 over night and continued to rise :-O . My stomach felt sick every time I pressed F5 to see 10 more views. Somebody found the ad and was probably contacting the seller right now to snatch it.
So I called Evangelos immedately to have a friend of him in Athens pick it up.
Two days later I got the relieving call. IT WAS IN HIS FRIEND'S HANDS!!!! :w00t: :-D :-D
After another one and a half weeks, he shipped it out well packed and today I finally picked it up at the Greek restaurant :breakdance: .

Well, what can I say?
It sounds magnificent! I was really blown away that the knobs and switches had no contact issues whatsoever :dunce: . Everything was working fine.
So I dared to put a tape in...expecting nothing. But BAM! It was playing crystal clear at correct speed. :w00t:
Optically, this baby is a 9.5/10. I have only few radios that are in better condition.
