You are out doing all that fun stuff with that UGLY boombox in that vid?!?!?!?! :dunce:

Man, get a GHETTOBLASTER and get SPIN'N!

After seeing that vid, my suggestions (and I don't care what your budget is, you get what you pay for).

I should have added plastic to the corners of my i931 to give it a squared edge before I sent it off for graffiti!!!! :dunce:

Damn, oh well - It will still be cool
The rounded corners are fine............But why did they round the entire length of the top side

True indeed! :agree: That box you've got is wack but in comparison to the Kaboom, it's a beauty! :-D

I think this is the case where you shouldn't allow your budget to prevent you from getting something "official"...
Make $500.00 your limit and you can't possibly fail - you might not even spend that much!

Yeah I know we desperately need a proper blaster! A Conion or a M90 ,is just too much money though... Have to get lucky at a flea in that case... Maybe could find a reasonable priced Sharp 777, I don't know maybe you're right and a Lasonic is the way to go for the budget I have! (but NOT a i931 :sadno: )

Haha yeah but then I'd have to work so much over time I there wouldn't be any time left for breakin! :breakdance:

Get your azz on ebay and try to get a deal. I just scored my JVC m90 from there about a month ago for only $180!!!! My Conion c-100F was more expensive at $350 shipped, but again that is about 1/2 price from what others sell for that are missing more parts. You can have a Lasonic TRC-975 for about $200 pretty easy or even a TRC-931. You just have to make the time to look online.

Most of us are collectors and don't want to sell any "heavy hitters" because we "collect" so you probably wont find a big box for sale here with your price range. Some of us buy/sell/trade for profit but not too many of us.

I have traded a few and sold some on epay for profit but those were the "entry level" boxes that you quickly lose interest in because you have 50+ boxes that sound better  . Maggies, sears, symphonic, etc....

You learn quickly what type of boxes get your juices flowing ;-) .

UH, you said you have 300 boxes????? :w00t: :-O :dunce:

PS, to the OP - If you don't like the "jumbo" text on the 975, just put a damn sticker over it!

Haha thats an insane amount of boxes Shane!

I've been checking european ebay for a while now. It seems that when they heavy hitters do come up (that aren't telefunken) they go for alot more than in the States. Maybe I just need to be a little more patient...

I regularly check lokal used sale sites in Sweden and Norway and go to flea markets quite often... Maybe a grail will turn up sooner or later... I did find my VZ-2500 at a flea!

:agree: but just remember it takes persistence and luck sometimes so look as often as possible since any of the good BIN's will sell quickly. It can take a while but once you make that score it will seem worth it and for the others that run to completion you just have to hope that none of the people with deep pockets starts bidding against you. You'd be surprised how often a good box doesn't get a lot of bids or only gets low bids.

Like blu I've scored an excellent M90 for $410, a Panasonic RX-5350 for $75, a Conion C-100F for $125 as well as other good deals but that's because I caught them within minutes of being listed. You will typically only be successful this way if you look often.

^ that is KEY. Getting the BIN deals or mis-titled ebay auctions. Be the first as often as you can. I check ebay 80+ times a day for boxes  . Only when I am sleeping do any of you have a chance! hahaha  .

Except if I put a bid on a box that had a BIN of only $56 and then it sells for over $800 :dunce: . I have only done something stupid like that once, never again will that happen :nonono: .

You have to admit to them. It's like therapy to help you get through it. Kind of like AA meetings for boombox collectors

Well joeladamkrueger, All these guys are steering you right. Sadly, it comes down to MONEY. But if you start saving now, by the time the deal does come up you can reach higher than you thought.

If you only have $100 to spend, your seriously limited if you don't have lots of luck. But like someone said, if you are patient, something will come along that is right for you.

One thing is for sure, if you do take your time and save your money, when you do make that big purchase...the day you get it and walk out with it to go dance, you will know that was the best money you EVER spent!

I believe you! I think I have an ok chance at getting one from a swedish used items sight... I've had a post there for two months and got my silver Hitachi 8180 and offers to by a PC-55. Maybe sooner or later the Conion C100, Gf777, a Lasonic or a M90 will pop up! Thanks for all the advice guys! :-)

I have another rookie question... How well can boxes handle to play in the cold? Like around freezing? I'm guessing that the batteries will burn up in no time but can it hurt the box? Maybe the speaker foam gets stiff and breaks? What is the coldest temperature that you would play a box in?

By the way it looked so lame to just post a youtube link... How do you put the video in the post?

There's a YouTube button above the text box, just click on it and add the link in the middle.
