For me - it was all so weird. I was supposed to visit a friend in NY in the end August and stay whit her for a few months (even got the tickets). She was workin in WTC (she is OK thanks god). But i was involved in car crash at middle of May and was laying at home in Bulgaria whit some nasty broken bones. A friend called me and told me to switch on CNN. At first i got it for a joke. But damn when i switched the channels i was like shot. Was feeling enough shaity (there was a possibility to loose my right hand back than) and cant believed whats goin on. Was feeling like the doomsday is commin :sadno: . Just remember my father was still alive back then and was visitin me to see how im goin. He use to be a military doctor and was all over the world were war conflicts were. He just lost the color of his face and sad - "damn i wish to kill all this terrorist and his families whit bare hands" . Want to forgot this moments :'-( .
When im watching from the distance of the time now im feeling like this car crash sort of saved my live. Who knows....
RIP to all those people :'-(

Funny you mentioned this... I've been writing all that stuff on Twitter for the past hour...

Figure I'll just copy and paste my Tweets...

10 years ago today, I was at work on 1st shift... Didn't really find out what happened until a 2nd shift coworker came and told us...

I had a September 2001 Source magazine with Puffy & the Bad Boy Family on the cover... In the background was the NYC skyline with the WTC...

I had to show it to him... I said, "Those are gone?"... He basically said that "Yeah, they're not there anymore!"...

The work day was over... I caught the bus to go home and - if I remember correctly - NOBODY was on it! That was NOT normal!

I figured I'd stop at Circuit City to cop Jay-Z's 'The Blueprint' CD which was released that day, and Fabolous' CD...

There was hardly anybody in Circuit City (Willow Grove Mall... I work in Warminster)... All TV's were turned to the news...

I caught some quick glimpses of the TV but didn't stop and look at anything... I was trying to get my CD's and hop on the next bus home...

The Jay-Z CD was in stock but Fabolous got pushed back...

Got home, turned on CNN and got my 1st real look at what happened... Needless to say, that's a day I'll NEVER forget! :(

I Am Legend
my most distinct moment involved the words of an adorable 18 year old girl --

i was on my way home after getting bunch of supplies from home depot
( now - ten years later -- i totally forget what project that was )

saw the totally memorable butt of this kid --walking to work at our local surf shop
i stopped to give her a ride

the FM station we were listening to --
cut their music to announce the that " terrorists were trying to bomb the WTC "
?? :sadno:

i had known this girl for a long time -
but never thought of her as very 'worldly'

but --she reminded me that they tried to collapse the WTC 8 years
before ( when she was only 10 ) ............
there was a huge truck bomb that killed lots of people there

there was no indication on our radio about how very serious this new attack really was

then she blurted
" what a terrible place to work "
-----------------------

later --when i saw what was happening - :'-( :'-(
i knew it was WAR

I was on a phone call with a General Manager from one of our local offices in Virginia. Heard some rumbling behind me and people getting online to check the news. And I heard someone say that something was happening in NYC. I remembering shushing them because I couldn't hear my caller. Then he heard people talking in the background at his office and asked me if I knew what was going on.

I put him on hold and asked all the folks what was going on and someone said a plane crashed into the WTC. I was thinking it was an accident and just felt bad for everyone. So I got back on the phone with the GM and he was freaking out, having heard that the crash was not an accident and that there was something going on all over.

So I got off the phone with him and called Bobby. He of course had no idea what was going on, nor why I was so scared. But my family was safe, so I was ok,

Then people start talking about another plane and something with the Pentagon. Then I went into full panic because at the time, my mother was still working for the government (DFAS in Columbus OH). I tried calling her at work and couldn't get through, the phone lines were all crazy. It was nearly 2 hours before I heard from her, obviously she's ok, nothing happened there.

We kept getting word of more and more things happening. We had several of our higher up visiting the AIG building that week (AIG had just bought my company) so then we started worrying about them. I remember security at our building was all in a flurry trying to figure out if we should be evacuated or sent to the basement. They locked the front and back gates and we all went to the basement.

All in all that whole morning was just surreal. Filled with confusion, panic, and misinformation. :'-(

Just went to bed after working the nite shift with Fresno Police Dept.(CA). Wife stormed in our bedroom yelling to "get up quick" ( I was ready to reach for my duty weapon). I ran into the living room to see the 1st tower on fire. I as so angry I felt like suiting back up and going back to work. I recall how much I wanted to help people and was so angry that I coudn't. It still haunts me. I tried watching all the tributes this mornning but I get agitated and restless. I've seen far too many deaths between my military & civilian jobs. I don't wish this on anyone. I must admit, I cried when they showed these poor souls leaping to their deaths from the Towers :'-(

It was the middle of the day for us this side of the pond. I was actually watching Sky News at the time when it suddenly broke out into a scene moments after the first hit. We went to pick up our son from school around 3pm and rushed back.
Upon returning we watched the next five minutes as the second hit. Couldn't believe our eyes nor understand what was happening. We knew then that approx 5 thousand people would be inside those buildings and was completely terrified.

I was driving my kids to the school bus stop when the radio station cut in. They said there were "Unconfirmed reports that a plane hit one of he WTC buildings". I was FURIOUS that any radio station would broadcast such BS with out it being confirmed. I actually went home to call and complain to the station manager.

At the time (as like now) I did not have TV. So I couldn't watch it. I called a neighbor and went to his house and he confirmed it was true. We both watched the second plane hit live.

Terrible Day! :'-(

I had just graduated college a few months prior to the September 11th attacks. The day of, I was asleep. My phone went crazy and woke me up. Friends and family were calling and texting to tell me. I felt relief to hear my Uncle and his family were safe in Virginia. I felt lucky to not have had to experience what those in NY had. And I think we all felt the strongest sense of helplessness that day. I have nothing but love and respect to all those effected by the senseless acts of terror that day. 2001-2011. Never forget.

Oh...and...f*ck those terrorists and all the exsisting a**holes who use religion as an excuse to hurt innocent people.

I was amongst those helping find people in the rubble (or what was left of them :'-( ) I watched the 2nd plane take aim after it circled around to make it's mark in history. I still have the outfit and helmet I wore that day. I never washed it out of respect that I might be washing away somebody's ashes. Bodies and parts everywhere. The people that jumped and landed on the ground below, it was horrible. They felt like a pair of sweat pants when you tried to pick them up. I could go on and on. It was a team I was in that found the stewardess who's hands, feet, head where missing after the crash. The planes wheels, I could go on and on. I was there last night to see the new freedom tower. It was nice but not the Twin Towers I'm used to seeing. The damage on the surrounding buildings when the towers fell. They never showed any of that in the news. We even busted a bunch of looters because there was a Century 21 across the street with all it's windows busted out. The soot and all the paper from the towers in the street. It was past my ankle. Finding shoes with feet still in them. Even baby parts. Sorry for the Real Talk but I just think you guys should all know. It's a lot worse than what they showed. I had nightmares for a long time. The only good thing I remember where the volunteers from other states I had the pleasure of meeting.

Hey Jboogie2384, reading your post sends chills down my spine.

Watching it from the West coast was hard knowing we couldn't do anything to help. I have always thought it to be absolutely amazing that humans can gain the strength to run towards a disaster like this instead of away.

Much Respect Booming Brother!

Thanks L. Tho you couldn't help the angencies from your area did show up. We watched each others back like we all knew each other from childhood. We ate together, cried together and consoled one another when needed. It's why the call it the United States. When tragedy struck we all stood together and did what we had to do. It was a great feeling. I couldn't describe how it felt. But it was good despite the reason we where there for.

I was leaving from work in NY JFK airport and headed to my mechanic to have my radiator fixed and when I arrived a worker yell a plane hit the world trade center.

I totally ignore the guy until I drove back home while driving I decided to turn on the radio all what I heard from all channels was a dispatcher advising all "personnel report to your post".

It was very chilling to hear something you've never heard before.

Once home I was in total shock to see on T.V. the towers burning, I've visited those towers so many times when I was a courier.

They were beautiful indeed in and out.

I just wished they would have build them again with a gold tone exterior.

But I'm satisfied with the memorial it is a special place, I must plan to visit my old city sometime in the future.

May all those people that died on that day. R.I.P.

Lets roll!!!!!!!!
