My first thought was the JVC RC-M50, but still not exactly the same. Then I thought Sanyo. My guess would be the M9982:

Im not sure on the Sanyo FD, the handle looks pretty differant. I think you were closer with the M50 guess, or the round speaker grilled jvc 656? Or has a bit of Panny about it, oh i dont know

I think it was an M-50. Judging by the black around the tape section.
