Hello, CorafanRIP. These boomboxes that you have look interesting. Of course, I feel that the GF-series Sharp boomboxes are the ones that I would go for if I had enough money for any of those portable stereos. I will say that the JVC looks somewhat like the JVC RC-M50JW that I have. Like the cassette deck of the GPM 818, the cassette deck of my RC-M50 is not working very well; it is too slow. It has been slow almost every day since I bought it on eBay in September 2015.
Anyway, CorafanRIP, I must say that the GPM 818 looks interesting. It has German writing on it: Sender* for the tuner knob, Ein for "On", Aus for "Off," etc. But it says "Power" near the ON-OFF switch instead of something in German. Germans use many different words when they talk about power in different things, just as English speakers have different words for talking about power. But Germans also say "Power" when they are talking about switches in electronics. (I just checked with Google Translate LOL)
What people will notice about the GPM 818 is that it looks like so many boomboxes that were designed and built somewhere in Asia: boomboxes made by Aiwa, by JVC, by Sanyo, etc. That is because the GPM 818 was most likely made somewhere in Asia: maybe Japan, maybe Taiwan, maybe Singapore. Maybe even Malaysia. I strongly suspect that is a fact. (That is one reason why I wish people would show good photos of the back of the boomboxes.) I doubt that German electronics companies -- or electronics companies in other European countries -- ever built boomboxes that looked like that. Maybe their engineers designed this stereo, but I think that Asian assembly-line workers built it. Many of us have seen portable sound systems that were designed and built in Germany (West Germany in those days) or in other European countries in the 1970s and in the 1980s -- that is, before the German or other European electronics companies sold their manufacturing operations to Asian companies that were selling twice, three times or ten times as many boomboxes as their European counterparts were selling. Did those sound systems designed and built in Germany, in the Netherlands or in another European country look like this GPM 818 or like a Sharp GF-9494? I doubt it.
Anyway, Corafan, continue to enjoy what you collect, whether it is model railways or boomboxes. It looks like they have a good home with you

Very nice score on all of you radios! That JVC with the round grills,oh wow. I've only ever seen one of those before. A guy up in Canada had it on eBay. When I finally got the dough to get it, it was long gone...............Glad you've got one though.ðŸ‘

JVC 656's are underrated imo - I love em, nice warm sound great quality build & extremely reliable!!
