I met up with a couple ladies at 10 this morning to do a local deal on a Sharp VZ-2000, (I ended up being 15 minutes late)
Anyways, test it out (by use of the DC outlet in her Jeep) Cassette works, radio works, arms move but record doesn't spin..
Cut a deal and she says they will get a hold of me if they find anymore boxes.. (The VZ came from a town 40 minutes away that I often check the thrifts, but they got it from an Antique store I've never been to)
Driving down the road with the SHarp in my back seat, I stop into Goodwill to pick up a cassette tape or two and spot a Zenith box on the front counter.. $8.00 says the tag, and I ask to plug it in.. Separate knobs for VOL, TREBLE,BASS,BALANCE.. Needle is there, but I had to manually spin the platter to get it free and start it spinning.. It plays records, but only a faint sound is coming from the left speaker.. I will completely disassemble it and check everything out!
Cruising home on "Cloud 9" in my Impala, I happen to drive past the 3-Record Memorial for Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens, and Bigg Bopper.. (Their plane crashed in my home town) Figured what better way to celebrate my Record player boombox purchases than next to some giant records!
Enjoy the pics!
