Hello!

I bought a Hitachi TRK-8130E and ordered some replacement belts too.

Got the box before the belts and couldn’t resist looking inside. To see what I was in for I looked up a youtube video of someone else opening it up (still didn’t help much as I missed a screw and yanked at the case for longer than I’d like to admit thinking the previous owner had glued it :sadno::drool::bang:)

Anyway this is the video I followed
and at 5:19 he mentions a blue and orange cable that has to be removed.

I get the box open after the little screw mishap and lo and behold I don’t see the blue and orange cable???? :jawdrop:Sure enough there are two empty holes on the board where it says blue and orange but the cables are nowhere to be found???

Here is a picture showing the board

And of the case without the blue and orange cable (unlike the youtuber)IMG_1245.jpeg

I’m very new to boomboxes. Can anybody get me some help here? What do the cables do? Does anybody have access to the manual (I can’t find it anywhere online)? Anything similar happened to you before?

Hopefully I somehow missed it and they are hidden somewhere in there? But it’s odd that it’s not connected to the case, no?

The radio works without those cables at least as I played the radio both before disassembly and after reassembly :breakdance:

If a manual never surfaces you could still restore those connections, the video shows where they go at both ends. You could also ask the fellow that made the video if he remembers anything about those wires. He posted a video a couple weeks ago so he's still active, and he's responding to comments left on his videos.

It's possible they're for a dial light when powered by the mains. Sometimes the transformer has a special tap for this purpose but in this case I don't see extra wires coming directly out of the transformer for it, so it's possible they tap off the circuit on the rectifier board for it. You could also trace the entry points on the motherboard to see where they travel to, that might give some insight into their function.

If anybody has the manual but it’s too much of a hassle to scan it but you still want to help out, the holes where the orange and blue cables are supposed to go are marked P9 and P10.

Another oddity: It’s just a hole and nowhere to connect the cable at the position where the youtuber has his orange and blue cables :hmmm:I also doubt somebody has been in my unit, I don’t see any signs of it anyway apart from this  Could it be by design that only some units have the cables? It is however a TRK-8130E, like in the video, which stands for Europe :dunce:

IMG_1255.jpegUpdate: Got the case open again and checked where in the back case they are supposed to go. It’s those holes with arrows pointing to the text TO LED. So… I guess once the belts get here I’ll have to check if any LED lights aren’t lighting up?

Still very odd that they are completely gone in my opinion. Especially since they don’t even have stuff to connect to but rather are just holes?
