Very secure...steel rails & supports & 3/4" MDF shelving boards. The center shelves have three rails with 4 2" #8 wood screws, per rail & anchored for maximum strength...

more to come....

I myself wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my boxes like that on the shelves, but if you have the rails screwed into the 2X4 16" spaced framing behind the drywall you should be "OK" ...and i love the cool light show :-D

Well, that's the key but this room is not cheap drywall. It's oldskool plaster with strapping so it's more forgiving than drywall. I spent a good 2 weeks smoothing out the cracks & holes before putting 2 coats each for the primer & paint. DAP plaster of paris works great if you know what you are doing. I wouldn't chance it if it was just studs & drywall Each corner shelves can handle about 100 pounds & the center shelves I would bet could handle 200 lbs across all six braces...

As long as there isn't too much BASS in the room the boxes should be ok...if there's too much bass they might just vibrate and slide off the shelves

Well, I looked up the specs on the wall shelving, rails & brackets, etc. As long as the boards & wall can hold up, each single bracket is spec'd at 75 lbs so that a 2 bracket 24" shelf can support 150 lbs. Also, since the weight is pulling mostly down & not out from the wall, the screws can hold a lot of weight too.

My next goal is to find some sweet dark matte shelving or something similar so that they recede & the boomboxes stand out. The present boards are from a dismantled shelving unit but they still look ok.
