It's not a money issue or a wife issue, I'm trying to figure out how to juggle 2 vacation options and the vacation time I have to work with. One trip is to drive to Nashville, TN with the wife and kids for the annual car meet I go to since 2003. Then the bbxery meet which is 2x as far away and likely to cost 2x as much if we drive and take 2x the amount of time but could possibly be 2X more AWESOME!

The solution = fly by yourself. Saves money and time, plane fare to Vegas is cheap, and it means you'd only be gone a total of 2 days, so your family wouldn't miss you and wouldn't care that you didn't take them with you, lol. I mean srsly, driving from WI to Vegas would suck hardcore. I'm too old for that anymore.

What's the head count so far for the meet, any rough guesstimates :-D ?

Here are the days I want but there is a 6+hr layover in Denver, CO each way.


$258 round trip leave here thurs Sept. 22nd.

So I spoke to Chris, Dave and Steve and we decided that we'd like to look into staying at Circus Circus. Mainly for two reasons, it's relatively affordable and we are taking our families which for Steve and I that includes young kids. We've talked to other members and they also are bringing their families with kids. Although Circus Circus isn't the hotel with the best street cred, it provides the best of both worlds for our families.

I took the liberty of calling Circus Circus and getting a quote for a group rate. The following quote is based on 10 or more rooms being booked.

Keep in mind that rates for the weekend of September 23-25 are going to be slightly higher because there is a large convention in town and the "Life is Beautiful" music festival is taking place at Fremont Street. Which btw, is the perfect place for us to go blasting. There is gonna be a crazy amount of foot traffic on Fremont Street.

Hey James, the "Life is Beautiful" festival has some real heavy hitters! Should be a blast to be in Vegas that weekend.

Are you gonna be able to make it?

I think I paid about $70 at the Travel Lodge for a couple of days at the Travel Lodge, next door to Circus Circus. Of course I was being cheap back then, and it allowed for more adult beverages and entertainment. But, no kids then either. :-D 20160302_225446.jpg

Joe if you're willing to drive to Chicago, there are several non-stop flights with Spirit, for $235

Yeah I can go to Chicago but that is a 6hr round trip drive from my house (just flew there last weekend) and it's $17 a day to park. :-/
