I bought this from the local recycling centre for £10..it's been a ongoing process to restore it as it was covered in Dust mud and grime..let's see where did I start...more to the point what needed doing to it..both of the aerials had been snapped off..the decorative trim on the tweeters had been rubbed off in places. the apss button panel trim was stained with some sort of paint which I couldn't remove without damaging the trim..the speaker fronts were full of the dust and grime which had stained the speaker cones..the batteries had been left in there which had leaked and corroded the terminals away..underneath there was a big blob of Araldite glue stuck solid to the case..and the solenoid that operates the auto programme serch system was stuck. so I couldn't open the cassette door..I managed to free the solenoid by turning the power button on & off quite a few times as that sends a Jolt of power to the cassette mechanism..after removing the front I remove the speakers-tweeters..the wire mesh and the apss button panel..the speaker cones were in a terrible state..the only thing I could think of using was undercoat white spray paint to brighten up the cones once again..I sprayed the speakers with a light covering just to hide the stains..I used duraglit cleaner to remove the rest of the trim on the tweeter fronts. and to get rid of the paint on the apss panel..i used satin black finish spray paint on the speaker meshes..I managed to remove the big blob of glue underneath using a block of wood as leverage not to damage the plastic and a flat end screwdriver to Lever the glue off..I managed to source 2 new aerials from the local tv & radio electrical shop..I'm quite pleased with the results and it's another one saved from the graveyard
