...It's pointless, considering that every box already has a treble knob or tone knob, which lets you reduce the treble more than you'd ever need to.....So why add another switch? Also, all boxes should have metal knobs, and the volume knob should be bigger than the rest. Example - Crown 850:

It is actually. Very good build. Some knobs with very smooth ratchet steps. Toggle switches are damn tidy. The full automatic tape mechanism work soooooo smooth. The sound is amazing for one piecer. All time lightened tuner. Dope long LEDs increasing with the power of the sound.... The chrome...

Hmm, I will have to see one of those someday Good build quality? Hmm, I will have to find one someday to see for myself. I have a Crown 850, and other than its nice metal knobs, its build quality is only average. It is kind of an "empty box" considering how big it is. In fact, an RX-5500...

I heard this is Crown's best sounding model. True ? I have an 850 and if it's anything like it it should really rock the house :dj-party: Peace

Yep, probably the most "dense" box I've seen so far. It weighs exactly the same as a Crown 850.

..I know the Crown 850 and m70 and a bunch of 3piecers rock....but those i listed are my faves for looks and sound. And of course the Tele 8200 is fn marvelous.....and the Sanyo 9494 and 9898 are the real deal. Ok ... the 8989 is #11...but its still ill.

Its in really good condition, just a bit of fading on the text on the top. I've opened, serviced and rebelted mine tho...was a bitch to open until you find out that both the front and the back come off!....then it's an absolute doddle to service :-)

Hey Alan_partridge, I'd say it beats most, at least mine. It beats my Sharp 9000 easily, Crown 850 too, and it even takes a good shot at the M70 ! The Bombeat doesn't go as loud as the M70 but I won't be sure until I get back to the UK, clean it and do some comparing. Overall a very good sound...

First: sell/trade my Sharp VZ-2500, that thing is too huge, and a JVC M70 since I have 3.. Then possibly try to fix some decks, Crown 850, Toshiba 9990, and The Captain. Then I have a few on the wishlist, above all a Sanyo MX-920 and Sharp GF-9696, secondly perhaps Lasonic 920, Toshiba Bombeat...

At least my modded D8444 has kinda awkward and "uptight" sound. And that is just because of those cheap 5" speakers. The low end in the other hand is astounding and even detailed on low to mid volumes, but only in the case you are driving the woofer with more than 10W RMS. Original amp has ONLY...
